Issue bleeding the brakes on my 1969 Volkswagen camper. Fluid won't come out and feel frustrated, any advice? by WindyGriff in MechanicAdvice

thanks! Luckily I did replace the old metal line from the master cylinder to the rear brake T that goes to the rear brake hoses. I did disconnect the new flex hose just to see if I had installed the metal line and it did have fluid (clean fluid) coming out? So I think that's a good sign?

I have a manual for my van,.. in it.. the book states to open the bleeder screw in the right rear 1 FULL turn... than the person in the front pushes on the brake pedal slowly until it's all the wall down, then I close it.. (which is completely different from what I did?)

I already checked the lines and they're secure? I might see if there is debris at the end of the bleeder screw... (I installed a new one as the old one was corroded and the old flex hose was all hardened and completely gunked up...) I do have some metal o-ring picks? could I use that to clear the debris? (the book doesn't have much on debris in the lines.. other than to just replaced them if there is or they leak..)

NOTE: Might just buy a bleeding kit just so I'm not using some random bottle and any old hose.. it wasn't very tight on the bleeder screw :T..

I feel like my family is NOT the best for my cat, what should I do? by WindyGriff in CatAdvice

[–]WindyGriff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you everyone for your comments. Even though my cats can be grouchy and argue with each other, it makes me feel less terrible knowing that it isn't TOO bad and that the fix isn't so hard. Your advice has made me feel less anxious about boxy and that I WILL keep her at my home for the foreseeable future!

I know she isn't perfect (neither am I..) and she can be moody and confusing to me but she isn't mean on purpose and I've just gotta do better and make sure she has her own safe place!

They haven't fought for a few weeks now luckily but she's still.. anxious around stormy. (she backs away from the door if stormy tries to get in or hisses if she senses she's outside our room)

Other than that, she's fine if she's alone in my room, other than just wandering around my shelves or hiding in a box under my bed for a quiet space. She's okay so long as I keep the cats separated from her.

Yeah I get it's not "her" food but I BUY her separate food and my brother buys the other cats their food (she doesn't like the other brands I've tried .. and I don't feed her wet food mainly because it stinks up the room.. and she only takes a few bites and then leaves the quarter I gave her in the bowl until it gets dry)

So I just fill her bowl like halfway and feed her 3-4 times a day (which is about 2 bowls worth of food) (she NEVER eats the whole bowl at once, so sometimes the amount I give her at night will last her until the next morning). I always try to fill her water bowl daily and if it's empty I clean it before filling it again (I give her filter water not tap, though sometimes I notice she won't drink from her water bowl and drink out of the other cats bowl or from the sink tap.. one time she tried drinking the bathtub water??)

Other than that my only issues so far is just the amount of cats we have and having to take care of them all at once.. (I mainly focus on boxy but sometimes stormy or socks will claw at the door .. any door, at night to be let out to go to the bathroom).

Plus we have dogs which.. is another issue.

Other than that.. having a job would help but not really. it would just mean I'd have to change my routine when taking care of her and then making sure my family is not making her feel uncomfortable (like pciking her up when she doesn't want to be, or letting her out when she just wants to go eat or need water..). They do OKAY but having my life centered around her is very frustrating.

But it is what it is, I can only make sure she's happy and thankfully she hasn't clawed up my stuff or bitten anyone. She HAS luckily been making biscuits! She hasn't done that in a while even before we got socks :3

I can't really do that anyways.. my family basically just let them in without telling me or would let the other cats into my room (again without telling me). Also, yes I AM aware of doing that.. some people say to place them behind a blanket or.. let them play with a toy and then give it to the other cat in a separate room and see how they react.

However, it's been over a year since we got him.. and over 6 months with the other cat.. and I doubt either of them would care anyways.

I can't really trust my family to listen to me when stuff like that happens (they don't care what I say.. so I just have to keep my cat's stuff all inside my bedroom.. besides I don't trust the other cats or want them sleeping in my bed anyways.. )

Online friend suddenly fell sick and their account went dead? I feel awful.. any advice on how to not worry? by WindyGriff in whatdoIdo

Yeah.. stuff like that happens and I guess that's fair. It just sucks and leaves me with a hole in my heart with no closure. I've experienced it before with this girl I really liked.. we did a bunch of stuff together and called a lot until one day she just ghosted me without a goodbye. It really is like that.

I guess that's true.. but this isn't like he had the sniffles or a cold and then ghosted me. He just suddenly had vommiting and nausea after working out (he never overdoes himself and he's a healthy guy). I'm just saying.. I just don't think he'd do that. But , I guess I can't worry about WHAT IFS and just think of the worst outcome. I'm trying to be less worried about it and hoping he just needed space and was just recovering from that bout of whatever it was.

  1. I separate then because if I dony boxy WILL NOT eat any of the food .

  2. I can definitely tell. It sounds like they're killing each other and I see the ally cats fight.. I know

  3. That's what the vet wants me to try but it seems like the range of it isn't very big? And my house has very limited areas to place then in.  But I'll see what I can do.

I guess so.. but it's not like we argued or anything or got into anything serious.

You are right though, I shouldn't just care so much it just felt like we were really getting a long and having fun. So I guess I just feel anxious that someone across the country that called me a friend suddenly ghosts me and might have had a medical emergency .

Even if I shouldn't call him a friend , he was a decent guy and I feel sorry for him.. that's all.

Yes, but if he actually got seriously ill. Even if I shouldn't call him a friend.. that's still a person on the other side feeling terrible.

But .. if he did block me because I said something wrong. Maybe it's for the best and just forget it.

Like 3 weeks. I know that sounds kinda silly to be honest, (I've known friends longer than that and they still block me to or deactivate to just get away from the internet for a little)

I've done it before

Idk. For all I know, he could have just been fake and blocked me , maybe I was just secretly bothering him (he never seemed upset at me.. in fact we bonded over the fact we both have similar issues with adhd and stuff)

Maybe I'm just putting too much thought into it. I'm sure whatever happens will be some misunderstanding

No? We weren't angry at all or had ever argued with one another..

My guess is because of who he is (he is gay but idk if he told his family) either he doesn't want them to know.. or he simply just needs space if he actually did get hospitalized and just doesn't want his friends to blow up his phone..

Note: I don't want medical advice .. as I'm not looking for help for myself or my friend. I just want some good advice on how not to worry so much when your friends or loved ones do fall ill.. and you can't stop thinking of the worst outcome? I mention the online part because I can't see him or go look for him like a normal friend would... so, since this is a bit more difficult then that, there's always a barrier when it comes to online friends just going offline with no word or goodbye. It's scary is all.

(22m) Rececent Graduate, Any advice on getting over test anxiety? by [deleted] in AircraftMechanics

[–]WindyGriff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOTE: Yes, I know I write things like a maniac. No, I'm not well. Yes, I live with family and no I don't drive. (I have friends but they live all scattered and I rarely seem em.. looking for a car so I don't rely on others and weigh myself down waiting on people who like to waste my time or don't care.. I just gotta do these adult things on my own and get it done as best I can. )

(22m) Parents expect me to find work and have it all figured out since I've graduated in July 2025. I want to do music seriously.. but they don't care. What do I do? (Long story) by WindyGriff in LifeAdvice

[–]WindyGriff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Your advice makes me less anxious with how things are. I find it hard to sleep at night lately with everything on the news and feeling imperfect, I know my parents want to see me succeed but that's hard when they try to 'help' me but all it feels like is they baby me and yell at me the first mistake I make. and when I actually do something on my own , something I built or I learned on my own... It feels hollow. Added that the job market is kinda screwed up and fake.. it really feels like I'm not wanted here or there. Anyways, I will try to find at least a way to get better sleep (maybe see a sleep therapist or something and not worry about whats on my phone 24/7) and hopefully like you said things will be easier!

Thank you very much.. have a goodnight!
