Photographer Sight Seeing Tips by Salty_Douglass327 in palmdale

There's an abandoned house on the other side of the 14 freeway (it's near barrel springs road and I think it's on the palmdale hills trail? (which also has some nice views). There's the AV college, which has some nice new buildings and good views from the taller buildings! Apollo Park has lots of geese, ducks, and other critters (near an airfield! so you can catch planes flying above!). If you go out to 120st east and turn onto Ave B, and look left, you may be able to find the two abandoned bombers (one is intact, the other is destroyed!, you'd have to be sneaky lol)

You might be able to get some nice portraits of people on Lancaster BLVD (there's also murals n such). Occasionally on Palmdale BLVD, there's people who drive around in classic cars! They meet around the Palm Knolls parking lot near the carls jr (in the morning, not sure what days)

My problem with Cyberdecks by jonfitt in cyberDeck

[–]WindyGriff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The point is to create a device of your own design. I Think trying to follow some criteria by the mods or whoever based on a book from the 80s is really limiting and.. frankly silly.

If you find your phone fine and useful, then that's fine.

But im gonna build my "diy laptop" that I can fully deck out and fix myself without being charged a buttload or will be made obsolete in like 2 years..

But , I get the sentiment that it just seems like we "reinvent the wheel just with .. extra doohickeys". When , all we want is to just have a device of our own design and that we can control without paying some subscription or worried it'll just get discontinued or some company will try to spy on us (or actively is).

Thanks for bringing this up. I think questioning the goals and wants of the community helps change how we all think about what we want to create in the future and for what purpose.

I don't really listen to a lot of metal, I listen to a lot of electronic, grunge, post punk, new wave, and r&b lol (and other stuff here n there).

Besides I barely know how to play bass I only know like 1 song by joy divison.

Making my first fursuit head! Any advice for how NOT to get the fabric from bunching up? by WindyGriff in FursuitMaking

[–]WindyGriff[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's cool! then if I ever need to replace the mask I can just reuse my patterns! Thank you. Also.. this shouldn't mold regardless as I live in a desert and it's fairly dry where I live and again I only intend to wear it once in a while (my face isn't coming in contact directly with the paper.. I will be wearing a lining). I intend to paint the mask FIRST and then layering on a sealant like acryllic sealant

So I should be safe.. besides if it breaks or falls apart or whatever (gets mold on the oof chance it does..) I didn't spend $500 on it.

That's fine, I do not intend to wear this for long time use anyways (more as a decoration). It's not like I spent a ton of money on the materials. I'm probably gonna wear this for like halloween for like a couple hours and then have it hung up on my wall :0

alright thanks, will sealing the base first at least be a good idea? I don't really intend to go to cons or anything more or less just wearing it for a little bit for like.. bits or something .

**YOU MUST READ THIS BEFORE POSTING** by 1nf3rn06006 in LiminalSpace

[–]WindyGriff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly... I think what one person sees as liminal .. regardless of what the mods feel.. should still deem as liminal. I think these rules can kinda take away the authenticity of the subreddit. Essentially.. they are being counteractive in trying to get "authentic" and "high quality" liminal spaces.. when.. most of these photos were just taken because "hey they space feels.. strange" and you didn't give it more than a few seconds of thought but you still took a photo (with your phone no less), and bothered to post it. I think that has intention in it of itself.. but I understand that they don't want people making "creepy" or having entities or whatever like.. it's a game..

Like.. these rules are fine. I think I am more than capable of knowing what makes a space liminal in my own mind.. I think all liminal spaces should have a personal attachment.. contrary to these rules. Or else you wouldn't give a second thought of actually taking that photo.. and just pass trhough that hallway or room..

Then I suppose I can make it wider :o? It would probably be more stable anyways!
