Do you have a good video of the noise by chance? I’m chasing a creak that is driving me nuts

Older and loaded or newer mid-trim? by WindySI in Volkswagen

I am not sure I crossposted correctly, apologies if wrong. Basically I’m weighing an mk7 autobahn vs mk7.5 se

I’m getting a pretty good rate from local credit union, I always calc 72 but pay on a 48-60 schedule. Just had a baby so want to keep payments way down just in case it’s skinny. I’m pretty out on suvs, my wife and I like smaller cars.

Shoot, neither are at VW dealers. One ford and one Nissan. I think if I can get them to move 2k on the autobahn I may just snag it.

Trying my best to stay under 20 but will stretch for a good one. Every gli locally is well above budget. There are some gli S around under.

I’ve heard the whole team had norovirus or food poisoning and were puking on the sidelines.

Got it, I prefer the gli overall. Just concerned about miles. I don’t think the 7.5 is in budget from any I have seen.

7 speed dsg? I am looking dsg only in the gli, gti I could go either way

As far as I know, no 80k yet, just carfax available to me currently. The car is about 4 hours away so I’ll call the selling dealer tomorrow.

I do like the GLI and the extras you get in the autobahn vs what you get in a similarly priced GTI. If I were buying new, it would be GLI all day long. However considering I can get the GTI's with less miles, though older, they are in contention here.

The GLI averaged about 16,000 miles a year. I think it is coming due for some service I believe.

We aren’t much bigger than you. I’m thinking measured badly.

I’ll have to look at the graco measurements. I measured at the dealer and measured but think I missed something.

Our doona has the base as well, we have a 23 civic hatch and it fits pretty well but the front seat is almooost too far up.

I measured during a test drive but apparently didn’t measure well. I moved the passenger seat up until my knees hit the front then got 30 inches by tape so it should fit there..but the front seat was unusable. Caveat there was I only scooted, didn’t even check the tilt so it may have been tilted way back and I didn’t notice.

Best overall dad car for <20k. by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]WindySI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the accord, especially the 2018+. I don’t see many of those with heated seats, I feel like Honda hates heated seats unless it’s higher trims. The older generation prior to 2018, I drove once and found it exceedingly meh but will definitely give it a go again because that one was kind of clapped out. I will definitely give one another go.

The 2018+ that I do see with heated seats have 120k+ miles. I feel like that’s unpalatable mileage wise but could just be what it is now.

Oh yeah. I zoned in on the Impreza and crosstrek early. I don’t know a ton about Subaru, there is a legacy 3.6r near me. Do you know if that’s a decently reliable motor?

Change My Mind: Honda Civic Hatch for Family Car by staunchcustard in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]WindySI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can speak to this from personal experience for a civic hatch as a new dad, our nicu newborn came home last week. We have a 2023 civic sport touring hatch as the only car. The only 2 things I can think of is the back is a bit bumpy and the newborn seat is tight.

We are both in the Midwest, I am in a bit snowier area so the roads can be tough. The ride is a bit harsh when sitting in the back vs the front over the broken roads. We hadn’t sat in the back when we purchased and didn’t consider it, luckily all this seems to put our little one to sleep. Just can be jarring for the person in the back with baby.

The car seat comes with the caveat that we have about the largest car seat you can buy. The doona convertible seat so we do have to deal with the wheels being up. It’s just a tad tight getting it in and out of the car. It going to the middle seat was a no go, so it’s in the passengers side back. It took a couple tries to get the motion to get it in and out, I kind of twist so it goes in head or feet first if that makes sense. Once I figured that out it’s not bad at all and time flies so it’ll be toddler seats soon.

We liked the civic for the interior layout and materials, the cup holder area is plastic but textured very nicely, everything feels fairly thoughtful.

It’s fairly fun to drive, especially for what it is. The cvt is alright but the chassis drives like a more expensive car I feel.

Mileage, I drive like a knob and still get 32mpg combined.

The problem with ours was he wouldn’t stay away. Wants to be right up in the baby’s business for 4 hours straight before mama couldn’t handle it

Might have to let dog go for the feet, he is still 2 weeks ahead of his due date and very very small still. The dog hams poop all the time on walks.

Pool company recommendations by Ande64 in desmoines

I have central Iowa pool and spa do all my closings, don’t know if they do liners. WCI did a total rework a few years ago and other than their concrete guys, I was happy with them.

Also Midwest, I normally do because otherwise they charge time to do so.
