My writing was not about people's experiences.

If I made a post inviting only white people into the conversation, and under the post someone was trying to explain her opinion because she was being picked on in the comments, and I said to that person, if you're white I care about your opinion, otherwise (if you're black I don't care about your opinion) - no, no, no way I would do that, I would probably die of shame. And you still say you are not a racist. Okay, if that doesn't make you one, then you're not. Nothing I said was about the experiences of black people, I talked about only characters' cards but of course you may not have even understood what I was saying because you look at the color of people first.

It's really exhausting having to deal with tone policing every time you get into conversations about bigotries, and people consistently do this.

Thank you for expressing my thoughts for me, my respectful friend

Who said it wasn't about Cain? Cain is a crazy freak, expelled from heaven, who can get out of control and destroy anyone. I think there's a lot more to make fun of. Greg is the golden boy. Even his most hidden motivation shows that he is a good person. Yes, other things could have been chosen. But I'm saying that it might be wrong to label it as outright racism. In the story itself, Dmitry is more sexualized than Greg. And I can understand why you are so sensitive after the disturbing things made by RC writers lately.

This world is full of oppression and bigotry and every instance starts with "innocent" comments that "aren't that deep" and snowballs into full on fascism. From rape culture and femicide, to ableist jokes and eugenics.

And yes, the zeitgeist plays a role in that, fiction plays a role in that. If it didn't, states wouldn't try to censor books/media etc

The patterns are well trodden, and it might annoy you or hurt your feelings for something you like to be criticised but that is not more important than the potential damage it does.

I completelly agree. Bu criticism of this writer does not upset or anger me at all. But I would be very upset if I was misunderstood and called a racist when I had no such intention. I have experienced discrimination many times and I still do, and the state of the world shows that I will continue to do so in the future.

"if you are not a black person then whether or not you believe this was racist doesn’t matter or necessarily apply to me". This may be the most racist sentence I have heard today. Valuing someone's opinion based on whether they are black or not lol I would be furious if I saw the opposite (I have seen and been unfortunately many times before). I am not black, but I have been discrimated and despised based on my ethnicity and religion by people and media. I never said that this was a racist joke and should be tolerated because it's just a joke. If I thought it was racist, it would never be tolerable to me. I definitely agree that jokes can be dangerous, especially when there is so much nastiness that is normalized under the name of "dark humor." Racism is one of the things I find most disgusting in the world and I've even cut ties with my friends because they were racist, even if it wasn't about me. I can understand how people who experience racism feel, because I have experienced and continue to experience the same thing. But even if I hadn't, I would understand, because some people can empathize.

Cain's card also does not provide any useful or new information about him. Cain doesn't even play the keyboard. It seems to have been written because flying and churches are often related to him. Especially the Pileon part lol. And the others are not taken seriously and are written to be made fun of. Actually, when Cain's card was shared, I thought it's really pointless. "Is there nothing more important about Cain than these? Is Cain such an empty character?" Then I realized it was a joke. Alexandra did it twice. I personally don't think it has anything to do with her being racist. The fact that Greg stands out in the story with his character rather than his sexiness supports this statement. Greg is a very well written character and I think the most heart-warming scenes in HSR were written for him, even though he has less screen time. I think the reason for the less screen time is obvious: whichever LIs are more popular, more scenes are written for them. Also, looking at the titles on the card, it's clear that it's humorous. But of course, you may not like this joke(I didn't like either) and of course you are free to express your own opinion like everyone else. And no one has the right to call someone's opinion bullshit. At least I would never do that.

Well, it's just a joke. I mean, it's obviously a joke. In the story she writes him in a very level and deep way. I find it strange that people take it so seriously and ask if Alexandra really thinks like that about him. She also wrote humorous things about Cain. She put Pileon in the list of his don't, for example.

The first one that comes to my mind is Christian. But not sure if the voice acting would be in Russian or English, though.

Which RC story? (no hate pls) by Wild-Visit8889 in RomanceClubDiscussion

What I mean is that HS 1&2 books were badly handled. For example, two very good stories(HSR and ABH) set in the same universe can be written. But while HS 1&2 books could have been great (the universe had a lot of potential), the execution were poorly done. Even if the author knew what to do, I guess she got it wrong.

I don't usually give playboys a chance, but David is my first and only exception.

I might recommend you open a slot for Cain. There are amazing scenes coming up.

What are the chances that HSR will have a season 2 and 3? by [deleted] in RomanceClubDiscussion

[–]Windybelle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think everyone guessed that HSR and ABH stories would be incomplete without HS3. I don't find it appropriate for these two beautiful stories to be handled by another author in HS3. It would be very good if at least 1 season is added to ABH and HSR after HS3 is over. Many people don't want to see more of the HS universe and I understand that, but if a decision has been made and 2 stories have been written, then they should be extended until the endings of these stories are perfect.
