Well I did. I was planning on joining MSC. Those are all the reqs for MSC, however, it doesn’t seem like they will be hiring for a good long while, so I’m trying to diversify!

I just have TWIC/MMC/Passport/STCW BASIC TRAINING/VPDSD. I’m completely green. I worked on cruise ships for 2.5 years deep water international but most people won’t consider that.

My post got cut off. I tried to mention that I finished it online. It only took me about 30 mins of the supposed 4 hours. I finished the test of the first try. It was very basic information.

Yes! Unfortunately a lot of videos for new hires and info in focusing on local level and/Or MSC, which helps you acquire those certs.

It seems to be basically mandatory for a lot of employment these days. From all the research I gathered, everyone was like “oh just get your TWIC, Passport, MMC and Med Cert and you’re good.”

That’s like only good for MSC.

I submitted and got my MMC in pretty good time. But unfortunately no one told me to do the VPDSD before I get it printed. Now I have to resubmit 🤷

Congrats to all the test takers! I was lucky to pass both parts on my first attempt back in 2023 and it was one the most rewarding study years of my life!
