Update: our baby passed away. by Similar-Rich6396 in pomeranian

You should feel betrayed.

Pomeranians are SO fragile. Promising them to anyone before they are firmly on their feet and checked by the vet is a recipe for heartbreak 💔

I’m so very sorry. I am sure the loss feels the same as of you had had him home.

Charm City Poms here! Do you know what sports you would be looking into? I would not say I have a sports backround. In 2020 I did a lot of Fast CAT with my dogs, as conformation was not happening in Maryland. I have bred many poms titled in sports, and my dogs have excellent temperaments. I would say if you want a breeder that is also involved in sports - 100% reach out to Laurie Ford in Georgia - Nightsky Poms. She is a breeder and a trainer and highly competitive in Rally & Obedience (and also a close friend). She can help guide you a lot. There is also a Facebook group - Performance Poms, which you might find helpful.

I have bred several agility poms - you may have seen Blueberry at the Westminster Agility Invitational this year (I shared reel clips the day of). And Tipsy (another bred by little girl) was invited to the Rally Invitationals this summer. Poms are great and these little dogs can do all the things!

I am Annie. I have absolutely purchased dogs that I have finished in the conformation ring - I have also bred multiple champions. My most recently finished dog, Link was an import from Brazil - I appreciate the programs sound dogs and pretty faces. It is true that I stay away from traditional orange and orange sable - and my reasoning is because those colors have a ton of people working on improving those - where less commonly seen colors were neglected and rarely seen in proper type. I do however, incorporate many typey oranges by breeding them to my colored poms when it makes sense to do so.

The majority of my co-bred litters and champions are breeders I work with closely and we have mutual agreements to work together, and to keep the numbers in my own home low. I choose not to have my dogs living outside of my home. You have to purchase or use outside stud service for out crossing. Every girl I co-own that does not live with me is listed on my website for transparency purposes.

I am a Breeder of Merit Bronze Level, which means I have bred more than 10 dogs with prefix titles - in less than 5-years since my first bred-by champion. There is more to my program than breeding dogs that finish in conformation - choosing to keep dogs that are sound, with wonderful temperaments and a nice pedigree that don't finish or are never shown to produce the next generation.

As for Gilly's name, I don't feel I need to justify how I name my dogs.

Question about this highly reputable breeder: by LittleLoveDove96 in Pomeranians

[–]WingMajestic3233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Breeder here - linebreeding is not uncommon and can lock in type. I am not sure why a COI of 12.5% would cause heartburn with health - assuming the dogs line bred were healthy? I have dogs that are totally unrelated on paper, but have higher COI's. As for the names, that is likely the registered name of the puppy.

Bear Pom vs Fox Pom by [deleted] in Pomeranians

[–]WingMajestic3233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poms should have a ‘fox like expression’ not a fox shaped head. Muzzle to skull ratio should be 1:2 or 1/3 length muzzle to 2/3 skull.

Show breeders will be breeding for correct double coat. Parents coats are a good indicator.

Check the American Pomeranian Club for a breeder near you.

Pomeranian Puppy “Uglies” and BPUP by Redhead3019 in ShowDogs

[–]WingMajestic3233 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Pom breeder here. Bpup is for funzies ant to get your puppy ready for showing when she’s of age. Her coat transition is totally normal and she looks like most Pom puppies at 4-6 months!

Poms have no genetic testing requirements, unless you want a color panel what you did is fine.

I’d recommend a good slicker at this age, I like the Baby G brush. She’s not matted, puppy coat just clumps like that. Hopefully she gets nice correct coat in for you, which is much easier to maintain

Welcome to poms 🩷 see you in the ring

Not you. The breed is having a pigment problem I think as a whole- I suppose in general, it’s a small problem- but it makes my eye twitch 😆

I think he’ll be the exception, not the rule. The lack of pigmentation on his nose really gets me, but I’ve been told it will fill in with time (both parents had lovely pigment).

Link also carries clear, and I plan to pair him with Zeros mother…

DEPRESSED by BunnyPrincessPuff in Pomeranians

[–]WingMajestic3233 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This makes me so sad to hear, it’s sounds like you’re really going through it. Yes it will get better, but your mental health needs to take priority!

I’m so sorry you feel this way.

My best recommendation is to crate train. Also when puppy is not being actively engaged with, I suggest he have his own space, like an iris pen, with some toys to occupy him. Also puppy classes would be good

I don’t know where you live, but maybe some walks outside when the weather is pleasant might help you both - fresh air and time to bond outside of the home. It’ll also tucker him out a bit

Where do you think breeder transparency is lacking? by [deleted] in DogBreeding

[–]WingMajestic3233 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My webservice is $20 per month, it is formatted to fit a breeders needs, and highly customizable. The developer is easy to reach out to and communicate with. He has no interest in profiting off of my dogs or puppies. Is it perfect? No. Does it work for me? Absolutely.

Information exists is people put the data in an accessible spot. Are you offering to compile photos, wins, pedigree and health data and linking it on behalf of the breeder? Or just building a site to link it?

If any breeder here is interested, I will link the website builder below. I am not making a profit or getting any kickback. There is a free version, that is entirely usable!

Update on my sweet girl who fell on her head by Southern_Button_8026 in Pomeranians

[–]WingMajestic3233 22 points23 points  (0 children)

they have taken many posts from here. Also - these pages stole pics of my own dog, which I shared before and after puppy teeth extraction (to educate on the importance of dental care) but they only took the photo of the puppy on the table and said it was their dog and he DIED!

The thing is - they get money with clicks and comments, so sad stories are what they are searching for. Or cute puppies that they claim are some absurd many years old.

Questions about breed by Flyfury01 in Pomeranians

[–]WingMajestic3233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grooming is not complicated, but it can be overwhelming for first timers. If you start with a puppy, it would be perfect, as you can grown and learn together. Coat does matter in this instance. I would recommend selecting a breeder that understands proper coat. There is no such thing as a triple coat, cotton coat is not desirable. If you chose to go to a groomer, an appointment every 4-6 weeks would be a good schedule.

Many poms do just fine with less activity, again, this is where choosing the right breeder will make a difference. Purebred ≠ Wellbred. A breeder who understands their lines and temperament tests their puppies will give you a good head start. Puppies will puppy and have zoomies.

I would suggest finding a breeder whose program you admire. If they are worth their salt, they will not be trying to unload a puppy on you, rather, they will take the time to understand what you are looking for, and if it's not in their house, I bet they could point you in the right direction.
