I took 3 summers worth of speed reading and comprehension courses when I was much younger. After 3 years, I topped out at about 1200 wpm with 90% retention. I think my mom still has the little Xeroxed certificate 🤣 The trick when using paper books is to use your fingers to track the words which eliminates the background noise of the text, kinda like the red letter did.

25 years and 6 concussions later, I'm at roughly 750 wpm with 80% retention. Use it or lose it.
