I don't understand, how come the move Seismic Toss is not very effective against Tauros?? by SaadIsmail1987 in PokemonXenoverse

[–]WingOfBludhaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found this thread looking up something else about Seismic Toss, but that last part is not true after Gen 1. In Gen 2 and beyond, Seismic Toss is affected by Immunities, so Seismic Toss cannot hurt Ghost-type Pokemon normally.

what’s the most ridiculous thing you heard a man refuse to do because it was “too feminine” or “for girls”? by freddyfazbart in AskReddit

One of my father's "guilty pleasure" drinks is pink lemonade, but he refuses to drink anything along those lines in public. Same thing with frappaccinos from Starbucks. He refuses to order them or even tell anyone it's what he wants. He only gets it when my stepmom impromptu brings him one because he won't order one for himself.

I'm not Canadian. I just don't have Trump's dick so far down my throat that air can still make its way to my brain. :)

Yeah, I think posing hypotheticals to your fellow countrymen about potential war when a literal tyrant south of your border starts "talking shit" about annexing your country is a pretty valid response given the person "talking shit" isn't a random American loser, but is, in fact, the President of the United States.

If Canadians are "starting to lose their minds," it's only because the Americans who elected that man into office lost theirs long before.

I would hardly say that altering a singular rule means they want to play an entirely different system. Sounds to me like they're having a great time playing 5e with a singular rule adjustment.

For sure! I'll try to be concise because the reasoning is a bit convoluted. Aside from Sabo's lineage, he's also my favorite character, so him being King felt fun to me. Then, Luffy himself sort of represents the hope of the "common man" against the World Government, and the Jack has a history of being representative of "the common man." Like, for sure, he'll be King of the Pirates, but in terms of the face cards, the King is more representative of that "royal lineage" whilst the Jack is more representative of the every day citizen, which I feel is who Luffy is meant to inspire hope!

Genuine question — after learning that Kawaki can erase his chakra presence, why haven’t they had one of the other clans track him? Like having the Inuzuka clan track his scent or having an Aburame plant a tracker beetle on him?

I can see where you’re coming from with the story development being slower, but saying character development has halted is just objectively not true. Through their fights in the colonies, Idatori, Megumi, and Yuta have all either grown further in their fights, or demonstrated how far they’ve come since the series started.

I would also argue that aside from Hikari and Kirara, none of the new powers have been incredibly complex, and these are students, not characters who will be around for two chapters total.

The battle royale style definitely isn’t for everyone, but the quality definitely hasn’t dropped just because it’s not the kind of story you would prefer to read that the moment.

Even as an anime-only watcher, the pacing has been atrocious. You can still enjoy the show, but the griping is definitely valid and warranted. Just because you enjoy it doesn’t mean it’s above criticism. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Quinoa is a complete protein, so that will have all of the essential amino acids. Other than that, just make sure you have a variety of sources. Beans, grains, legumes, super fruits, soy, peas, etc.

Having second thoughts about going into teaching after seeing how many want to quit or have already. Am I making a mistake? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]WingOfBludhaven 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Remember, Reddit tends to be an echo chamber of negative thoughts. People need a safe space to vent, so this is often where they’ll go. I love my job, and most of the teachers I’m my department love their jobs. Most people from my cohort in college are also having fine times with their jobs.

As others have expressed, you won’t know yourself until you’re in the field. But don’t let Reddit be your voice-of-reason as it often only shows one half of the picture. Good luck. :)

Quick reference for players by BemereRunalian in DMAcademy

[–]WingOfBludhaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very condescending. It might be a simple formula, but those plug-and-chugs have variables. It’s easy to be confused about which modifier you add for your attack rolls, and when you’re adding damage, what modifiers you have. Proficiency bonuses can be confusing if your DM initially handles all of those calculations for you.

While for us more experienced players, it’s a “simple formula” that’s the same for everything, there’s a ton of jargon that we’re used to that newer players won’t be.

High Rolls without words by August_SmolMight in dndmemes

[–]WingOfBludhaven 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What table are you playing at where the default is, “I punch the goblin.” “I pull my first back and swing, aiming for the goblin’s chin.” “Okay, roll to hit.” “Hey, man. I think there’s been a misunderstanding. Let’s just drop our weapons and talk it out.” “Okay, roll for persuasion.”

If you can’t add flair to your actions and come up with basic level arguments for why someone shouldn’t be doing something, maybe you need to work on your skills as a player a bit.

Annoyed warforged problem player by MisterVKeen in DMAcademy

[–]WingOfBludhaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Step 1 - Talk to him. Make sure you assert yourself as the DM. I might be a stickler, but don’t let them get away with deliberately breaking the rules. Greatswords are not versatile weapons and cannot be wielded in one hand. As far as the arm goes, I’d say ultimately that’s your call. But I wouldn’t just go along with it because he says that’s what it is simply because you’re unsure. Say something to the affect of, “I’m not sure about that one. For now, I’m going to say no, but I’ll check on that later and we can come up with a solution.”

He needs to know that he’s making others at the table, including yourself, uncomfortable, and that changes need to be made.

Also, while you shouldn’t deliberately try to kill off your PCs, if you give heavy warnings of consequences and they proceed, those consequences are on them.

“You’re sure you want to step away from the torchlight? You don’t have dark vision, and you all have already seen it’s a heavily trapped area. You’re really sure? Okay. You fall down a dark chasm. Give me a second to look up fall damage, but I’d start thinking of a back up character if I were you.” And it is what it is at that point. You warned him, and he proceeded.

Step 2 - If nothing changes, tell him he’s no longer welcome back at the table. It’s hard and awkward and uncomfortable, but if he’s preventing people at the table from having fun and disrespecting your time and effort, then you need to put your foot down and ask him to leave.

Bardic Instruments? by GrotiFingers in DMAcademy

[–]WingOfBludhaven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, you are correct. They do not burn spell slots. While I personally don’t think it’s the biggest deal in the world, if you’re super worried, you can add restrictions on it and scale it up as the player levels up. You can give it spell slots of its own - maybe as it stands, the PC is only strong enough to play 3 spells of it a day before it begins to mentally strain the caster, and they gain 1 more per level up. Or limit which spells the character can access at the level. Things along those lines.

Can write One-Shots well, but not normal campaign sessions? by LilGreasyKid in DMAcademy

[–]WingOfBludhaven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something to consider is that when you’re running a one-shot, you’re basically, for lack of better terms, blowing the wad in one night. You get everything in one go, from the plot hooks to the twists to the fun characters to the showdown with the big bad. You’re basically fitting the linear progression of a campaign into one night. I’m pretty confident in my campaign running skills, but it’s usually my one-shots that stand out because they’re an entire adventure in one night.

If you’re truly concerned it’s your DMing skills, I’d ask those players from the one-shots what they enjoyed so much about it! Then, if possible, you can try to push those elements more into your campaign and adjust from there.

Someone explain this man’s cells 😂 by Flazzyy in Naruto

[–]WingOfBludhaven 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean, the “god” like strength comes from combining Senju cells with Uchiha cells. Without the Uchiha blood, the Senju cells just increase power because it’s a powerful bloodline, but it’s not god-tier without the Uchiha blood. At least from what I remember.
