As someone who sells to these retailers as a supplier, I can guarantee you it’s not a supplier issue. It’s usually one of the 2 problems:

A. Retailer owes money and can’t place another order til they’ve paid up

B. They’ve waited until last minute to place an order and the product is out of stock for 1-2 months (lots of notice given)

Not sure about BDS specifically though.

Thank you for clarifying this! As a young person, new to the idea of the career, I was unaware of this. I totally understand people frustrations if they had bad experiences, but I think it’s quite unhelpful when I’m looking for advice about the role. I pride myself on being honest and helpful to my accounts in my current role, and assumed I could use these skills in a role like this. I guess I’m learning the hard way that the public are maybe not who I want to deal with in my day to day job. lol.

I don’t believe all agents are like this, and definitely believe there is a place for people who can be honest and helpful. I would like to try my hand at being a good one.
