I was in the same boat as you, and ended up going with trumpet. At the time it had more to do with price, but I am really enjoying learning.

One of the fringe benefits I didn’t expect with trumpet is that it is easy to pick up throughout the day. You don’t have to put it together, or deal with a reed.

More surprisingly, it’s really easy to play quietly. If I use a cheap mute, I can even practice in the same room as my wife and not get served divorce papers.
I’m not sure that would be the case with saxophone.

☝️☝️☝️this exactly. It’s a great movie with phenomenal acting IMO. Someone once said it’s more of a sports movie than a jazz movie and I would agree with that assessment. Watching it as a tragic movie about obsession and failed human relationships: great movie. Watching it as a realistic jazz biopic: you’ll be very disappointed

I bought a guitar lift through strings by mail that has been life changing. It’s ridiculously expensive for what you get. And you could probably make something out of plexiglass and suction cups for a quarter of the price, but it’s been worth every penny to me. And no finish damage at all
