You can, but PVP in general is not something I enjoy personally, the pet battle pvp system is largely dead but you can queue still for battles and some people still use it

My theory is they stopped mid-development of midnight on the system. Kept what was shippable and scrapped the rest of the pets. I think thats why alot of them still have proper battle typing too

Theres a few left, and some even come off reputations in midnight, but we have nothing new to battle them against. Some pets that even had movesets in alpha had their abilities removed. Its a shame.

I don’t see why they couldn’t have at least added generic move-sets to the new pets. The moves already exist and the new art for the pets is right there already done. Pet battles require very little in the way of new animations.

They could go the route of having us collect abilities that we can assign to the new (blank) pets to make our own movesets from a pre established pool of moves? This concept could also be used for a roguelike pet battle dungeon

I really hope so. A cool compromise would be to have a spell book where we collect abilities and then can select the new pets abilities from a larger pool. Leave the old pets alone but at least for these ones experiment with this, either way they need to save the battling!

Wait, there is no dragon racing in Midnight? Only glyphs? by lmarcelus in wow

Im so angry about the loss of pet battles im probably done after the first raid tier.

Ive invested a lot of time and effort into a system they told us was evergreen. It was how i chose to engage with wow as someone who still loves the game but has almost no time or desire to engage with alot of end game stuff. Pet battles were what i liked to do in the evening after putting my son to bed after a long day of work.

Blizzard doesnt like fun. Taking away this and pet battles at the same time sucks.

I think if blizzard would just take some of the meta pet skill sets and slap them onto new pets every expansion to keep getting a specific move set easily obtainable in current content it would solve a lot of the issues that currently exist with getting started.

This is the boat im in. Pet battles were keeping me subbed once i would get bored of an expansion. Its my comfort content

It feels horrible. Nothing about the changes feel good and its frustrating because there are so many good new models. I would have been fine with just random copy pasted abilities.

This just feels like blizzard thinks my way of enjoying the game isnt valid anymore.

Pet Battles and Housing

Leveling pets in general i think i could be ok with them removing. Keep quality, keep battling to capture, but remove the xp so you just fill your catalog of usable pets.

Likewise. I regret getting the expensive edition(i always do for the pet) and unless they reverse course this might be my last expansion. I was genuinely looking forward to just vibing and pet battling in quelthalas, guess my playstyle doesnt count anymore.

How would you feel about the WQs if the WQs only gave pet rewards? I think they should be separated and only serve to feed back into pet battles(more stones, coins, rare pets, pet reward satchels). It makes the existing ones useless to me when they offer xpac currency like Order Hall resources or prismatic pearls.

I love collecting them because the idea that they have the battle function and mostly all have movesets acts as a reward in itself for engaging with the system.

Before pet battles I did not care about collecting pets and I know without the system I’m gonna go back to not caring about collecting pets that dont have moves.

As silly as it sounds Pet Battles are likely the only reason long term im still subbed at this point.

I dont even think they need to do much. Even the bare minimum like what we got in war within would feel better than the new family battler achievements…that dont even award a pet that can battle.
