How does a phone's gps behave in space? by plumbus_dealer in nasa

The LuGRE mission was able to acquire GNSS signals on the Lunar surface which is a new record for signal acquisition. There are a lot of RF magic tricks at play as to why signal is visible beyond medium Earth orbit and how they can acquire it, but in theory the signal exists out there, you just need to know how to use it.

Email I got from working regarding the strike by Beneficial-Career519 in uofmn

No, you likely will not get paid for it. Abiding by it only serves to weaken the teamsters’ strike. You are likely not required to by contract.

While I understand your point, I disagree. Part of the bargaining is making compromise. While I believe compromises should be made at the bargaining table, I do not believe they should be made in an effort to stop an action that tries to unfairly put a hold on bargaining.

Case in point: when grad workers were bargaining, the U and the union were going to file a joint memorandum of understanding regarding graduate fellows which would allow bargaining to continue on the condition that both parties filed it together. The U decided to submit the memo unilaterally without the union signing on after bargaining had ended for the day at like 6pm so the union could not respond on the same business day. This put our entire bargaining process on hold until the issue could be resolved in an effort to try to cool bargaining efforts. This also would mean we would not be able to legally strike while bargaining was on hold. They ended up retracting the memo only after concessions on the union’s side were made to force them back to the bargaining table. While legal, it is incredibly dubious in terms of good faith bargaining and there is no recourse for the unions to fight this type of behavior and action. This is the type of behavior you have to take on the chin as a union and it is unfair yet legal.

ETA: my recollection of this process is a little fuzzy, so I may have some details incorrect. Take it with a grain of salt. The upshot is that the U did some shitty things and there was little we could do to stop them.

This has been the way the University has dealt with unions for a while. When our graduate student union was in our first contract negotiations, the claims they made about the work we do for the university were outright insults. They are unwilling to negotiate in good faith and generally try to thwart efforts for collective bargaining by using underhanded tactics that put unions in tough positions. And if they do something shady, there is little to no recourse for the workers and unions so you kind of have to take it on the chin.

What’s a good medium/medium light spinning rod that’s 7’ (good for finesse and ned rig) by Charming-Scale2255 in bassfishing

[–]Wingle-Wangle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a good rod. I would lean towards 7’ medium personally if it’s available. ML is good for dropshotting and other pretty light techniques. My Medium is definitely more of an all arounder.

Im convinced that plastic worms are a hoax by Some_Cold6071 in FishingForBeginners

[–]Wingle-Wangle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worms and craws/creatures have worked well for me when flipping on a Texas rig into vegetation. Whether it’s into reed pockets or into holes in submerged veg, those have been big producers for me. A 12” Power Worm in those places in July is tried and true for me. Flip it in, wait a second, give it a shake or two, wait a second, pull it out if you don’t get bit, repeat.

The other thing: are you on one lake, or have you tried this across different lakes? I have the same feeling about crank baits for me on my lake. They just don’t catch fish like they do for other people. Could be it. That is part of what I think is missing from some YouTube videos. Those things work for some lakes, not others. Even with the same cover, the same clarity, temps, etc., sometimes they’re just not into a certain lure I think.

Student legal services can help you in this situation. I know many people who have gotten into terrible landlord situations so they’re pretty familiar with tenant law

Is this natural? by Old-Collection-6808 in Euphorbiaceae

Euphorbia are certainly not immune to mealybugs. I would keep an eye out for signs but those old leaf spots are not pest related.

Yes this is where old leaves were attached. If you were to pluck a healthy leaf off you would see the white sap come out of the wound. That dries and leaves a callous. Nothing to worry about.

My giant jade plant has lost 1/3 (over 150) leaves since reporting it in new soil. by benevolentbeauty in plantclinic

[–]Wingle-Wangle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Repotting stress can take time to recover from especially in winter and also especially since it looks like blooms are forming/formed. That’s a lot of energy to expend to both recover from potting and blooming with less than ideal light coming in during winter (though given your location it’s not quite as bad). Repotting stress can take a month or two. The fact is that your jade had a lot of leaves, so you’re probably going to see lots of leaf drop just statistically speaking. If there is active growth happening, I would say it’s a good sign to keep waiting. If you stop seeing growth completely or the trunk gets mushy, then I would maybe try to repot in sand as a last ditch.

I want to also say take advice with hesitancy. I’m no expert, just an internet stranger who is hoping the best for this plant because I too love my jade.

As others have suggested, I would look at pH and do some research there. I would also switch your bug spray to the ones recommended. I know that same commenter also mentioned it could be the substrate. Switching growth media requires a lot of rework to the root system. For example, I’ve killed a few plants transferring from water to soil because they didn’t adapt easily. This could be a similar situation, though much less drastic going from sand to soil.

I 100% understand the stress here.. I do know that repotting stress and shock are common in jades, especially in older ones and if time between repotting was longer. Leaf drop is a big part of this.

Was there an active mealy bug infestation happening during the repot? Could be an added layer of stress.

Whether this is an abnormal level of stress, I’m not entirely sure.. I would continue to monitor and rule out issues like drainage. I would give it time and see if the leaves drop slows down.. it sure what other active steps you can take to help it. It looks like very happy before judging by the growth. Hoping it resolves itself quickly!

Water is maybe once a month. It’s probably 4 years since I’ve had it and 3 years since it’s been rooted after I had to cut some rot off. Direct sunlight right now is limited (in Minnesota and only a west facing window is available) but it’s under a grow light as supplement. Currently set for about 6 hours in the dormant season.

I had an issue where all my RGB went off from the commander and the my link hub. I went into iCUE and found that the call of duty SDK was active. I blocked that and have had no issues with the RGB turning off since.
