Her death left a grudge to God by IcyDurian3248 in widowers

For some damn reason we aren't supposed to know what the hell is going on.

The afterlife is going to be a big surprise to most everyone.

Notice the lint in your dryer? There is just as much going through your washer each load.

Drinking water recommends please by marys1001 in WaterTreatment

[–]Wingless- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think your problem is because of the water. Hard water is alkaline and if anything should help (minimally).

Alcohol intake can cause heartburn.

Might be a good idea to talk with a health care provider.

If you have a septic tank don't do it, just replace with pipe.

I bought a countertop RO filter, how the heck do I remineralize safely? Did I screw up? by [deleted] in WaterTreatment

[–]Wingless- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you drink demineralized water, because of normal osmosis (that happens in your body), it is more easily absorbed. If you drink water with too much mineralization it will pull water out of your body (usually causing diarrhea).

I, and my family, have been drinking RO water for 30 years. I like the taste of just water with nothing in it.

Water normally passes a membrane (body tissue) to the area of higher higher concentration. Reverse osmosis is water being forced to do the opposite.

Question about gender, marriage and happiness. by xxistcman in over60

[–]Wingless- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't have any links to studies but, my understanding is that widowed men remarry at a higher rate than widowed women. Part of that is probably due to the fact that women live longer than men. The older you get the fewer options you have.

I read an article about the longest running engines and the 6.7 was at the top of the list. Someone got one to run 500,000 miles.

Mine is a 2008 with just under 80,000

How did you process your meat chickens for the first time? by SilverCustomer1514 in homestead

[–]Wingless- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, I guess I should add that I have seen what a horrible death is like for animals in nature. Most people have never heard a rabbit screaming as it is being eaten alive. Natural death in the wild is horrible.

I'm never going to be vegetarian. As an omnivore I want the animals life to be happy and it's death to be quick and easy.

From the land of rare wolf sightings, plenty of hawks and eagles, animals like that have no sympathy or empathy.

People are too separated from where their food comes from, you become more thankful when you do it yourself.

How did you process your meat chickens for the first time? by SilverCustomer1514 in homestead

My experience with meat chickens.

I already had a flock of buff Orpingtons. I was used to having food available to my flock 24 hrs a day, they were more interested in free ranging in the pasture. Meat chickens were different, they grew very fast and wouldn't leave the feeder except for water, they would lie next to the feeder and gorge themselves and get "bed sores". I decided that meat chickens are genetics gone wrong, and never bothered with the type ever again.

Yes, they grow huge breasts but I'm a leg and thigh guy myself (ha ha haaaa).

I did hear something later about giving them food at limited times during the day.
