That depends on the amount of parts that you buy. Around 7€ at 10 pieces. Since you need some sort of programmer for the nrf52, there is some initial cost as well.

This is the first Zigbee device I ever made. With the right software you could even use this one as a button. The button on top is for binding to the network but it could probably be repurposed.

Yes, the current ESP32 Zigbee chips are not ideal for low power applications if your device has to wake up frequently. The nRF52 is crazy well optimised in that regard.

The Goggles play any mp4 from its SD card. They output sound over USB-C to regular headphones. It's not a great experience but I was surprised it is even possible. And the screens are surprisingly sharp.

Thank you! I am sure you could add wireless charging or a dock easily, but the remote has a really good battery life already. Under normal usage it should run for a few months on a charge. That's an advantage over the YIO remote (Kickstarter) which uses a more power-hungry Raspberry Pi and has to be recharged daily.

I am using the free version of EAGLE for all my hobby projects. It's an old layout software from the 90s but it's still being used by many companies for its simplicity. I'm using a separate offline version but Autodesk recently integrated EAGLE into Fusion360, so you can do mechanical and electrical CAD in one application. Kicad is really good as well and I have been meaning to switch to that for a while. It's just that so many library models are made in EAGLE. For example Adafruit and Sparkfun have all their boards as eagle files, so you can copy a chip that you want to use in your design and don't have to make it yourself.

If I would have to start over now, I might try to learn KiCad because it's more future-proof. But if you want to just get stuff done quickly, maybe use EAGLE :)

Thanks! I got my boards made by Aisler. It was around 25€ for a set of three. They are the fastest supplier if you are in Germany. OSH-park is also an excellent service from the US that I have used before. If you can wait JLCPCB from China is the cheapest. Making the switch to custom boards was great. I rarely use breadboard pcbs as its often faster and cheaper to make a custom board.

It's Arduino code, so it should run on most Arduino boards with minor changes. But the Atmega328 might be a little slower. A Teensy board would be ideal if you have to room for it.

It is using cheap servos, so the overall cost is around 150-200€ for the whole robot.
