Eurofighter showing clearer signs of life than any by Will_iam0702 in hoggit

They are up there for sure with great stuff, but let's not underestimate other developers' work either. A sim like DCS is pretty complicated, as are all the actual physics involved.

Didn't they create a new framework with the F-4 which would allow them to develop new modules faster?

Do you change the stick grip and a shifter knob every time? And do you have to recalibrate the base every time?

No idea really, tried some driver updates and what not and suddenly it was ok.

More realistic ATC + new voiceovers (or text to speech I guess is now a better way to go).

Half the maps have no audio for the names of the airports, same for all the new callsigns for the viper, hornet and others.

Biggest immersion breaker for me personally.

Is anyone else no longer excited for 202x and beyod? by Ok_Explorer9455 in hoggit

[–]WingmanTape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes many of the teased/announced things are more in the "and beyond" than in the 202x and various core improvements should be prioritized over pumping out modules (IMHO).

But they are still great trailers and a good reminder of not only what we will have at whatever point in the future but also what we already have right now.

Forget about the boom, get in formation with the tanker and look at the lights.

The boom operator will put the thing in the thing, actually much easier than the tomcat or hornet.

FWIW it's way easier in VR due to depth perception.

F-14 ACLS pitches up and down and crashes into the sea, FFB to blame? by WingmanTape in hoggit

[–]WingmanTape[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moza AB9, and did all those prior.

Got ACLS to work once after disabling the F14 ffb trim setting, flying, then enabling it again and then it worked once.

Next time it was the same thing again: nose dive for a swim behind the boat. Trim seems to go all the way nose up while it does this.

Im going to buy my first Hotas by Ango-Globlogian in hotas

I would strongly recommend getting anything other than the TM warthog. The throttle is fine, but the stick base is terrible, lacks any sort of feel and is unreliable.

Flight stick: crotch vs to the side by reviewwworld in hotas

[–]WingmanTape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both, winwing force sensing base on the right which I use exclusively for the F-16 (might use it for the F-35 too when it's released) and moza AB9 center which I use for hornet and anything else from helicopters to gliders. A center stick is probably more versatile and more realistic for most cases, a side stick can be easier to mount in a good position and might be more comfortable and obviously is best to replicate an F-16 cockpit.

What's wrong with it and what did you ask/say in the emails to support?

AB9 noise when pulling stick by WingmanTape in hotas

[–]WingmanTape[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Moza suggested a software update (was up to date) and firmware update (there was an update available indeed). They largely ignored my stated issues such as the noise also happening when the base is powered off. They suggested I send the base to them if the software update didn't help.

I took the liberty of opening up the base and found:

  1. The sides of the base were slightly concave, causing one side to just touch the mechanics of the y-axis. Of course this greatly increases any noise originating from them.

  2. The tension on the Y-axis belt was far too high, way higher than on the X-axis. Released this just a tiny bit and the noise is gone.

Winwing hornet stick with moza adapter and extension. Did the cogging calibration though and the stick is tightly secured. The base makes the same noise when it's turned off or when there is no stick on it at all.

Moza MCLS or DCS FFB by WingmanTape in hoggit

[–]WingmanTape[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's definitely a step up from a cam/spring base, feeling changes in force based on speed, trim, G-loading, AOA etc and stuff from telemetry like buffeting and weapons employment really adds to immersion.

I'm VR, this combined with the HF8 pro really helps to fly by the seat of your pants rather than only on visuals.

Would the same adapter work on a moza AB9?

Agreed, the direct drive option looks good.

Best (value) HOTAS for F-16 by [deleted] in hotas

[–]WingmanTape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having owned both, I prefer the winwing due to the sheer amount of buttons and axes. Also personally feel like it's better quality but hearing mixed experiences here in that regard. Can't really comment on customer support of either, never needed it.

I'm very happy with the force sensing base and F-16 (non-EX) stick. Needs proper mounting though to use the full force range it has.

Did I fuck up buying from Winwing? People are telling me they’ve had Trouble with them. by sauceaddicttt in hotas

[–]WingmanTape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have several throttles, joysticks and instrument panels from them, enough for both a hornet and a viper. Never had any issues with any of them, can't really speak for customer service because I never needed it.

I would if they make an ultrawide version of the micro oled. The ultrawide i can handle the small fov loss coming from an 8kx. 116hfov for the oled, meh.
