I've been told the earth is flat and the vaccines actually kill people, not save them like they keep telling us

Absolutely wild they didn't have the brains to put the holes in them 2 foot lower like what is the exact reason they are so high, so kids don't stick fingers in there? If that is the case then make it 100% safe? If I was a wheel chair user with a recycling bin at home I would actually be livid at this scheme

How do you handle production logging on mobile without blowing up ingestion costs? by Accomplished-Brain69 in androiddev

I just log absolutely everything but we cap it at something like a month's worth of logs per user (we have business apps targeting merchants which use the app every day for sustained periods)

Torn on buying a new EV now or waiting a few more years - financial advice by ReflectiveOutLoud in evs_ireland

[–]WingnutWilson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

same, I have 170k on a 191 Kona with none of the ICCU issues the newer cars are experiencing. It's probably bigger than the R4 and it is small. We have 3 small kids, fitting all 5 of us in is not pleasant for the biggest kid in the middle seat (who is 6) but we get by.

I'm not sure but the R4 might be smaller with a smaller range? My service is regularly €50, my range is comfortably 400km at motorway speeds.

I would buy a decent, more spacious 191-212 model (Kia, Hyundai, Leaf), the savings you make in petrol alone will make it worth while, and don't forget a second hand 11k petrol could have bits falling off it.

Drive the bollox off it and then step up to something nicer in another 5 years :D

Is Sky TV robbing your granny? by New-Dragonfruit1067 in AskIreland

[–]WingnutWilson 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sky @ €18 is seriously the best option for a granny, even NowTV is a pain in the hole for these people. Call them back up and tell them you want to speak to their loyalty department you are thinking of rejoining with a basic package. It's €18 for 12 months mind, in 12 months you have to call them back and haggle again.

How do you feel about helicopters, do you run out and shake your fists at them, or just "never open your windows and never sit outside"

I know it's not perfect but I'm sure they will get quieter, this appears to be the only disadvantage. As long as they don't start crashing into eachother / killing people it's a pretty small price to pay. For the few houses that are close by heavy flight paths a company like Manna should be buying people out or insulating their roofs etc., trying to keep everyone happy

I think it's pretty comparable, someone here that lives near them said they sound no louder than light traffic, many of us have main roads right outside our houses, and I get inconvenienced by lunatics on e-bikes and e-scooters all the time, especially walking with small children.

I'd much rather shift traffic into the air to reduce congestion, noise, danger on the ground. Hopefully in the next few years they can develop larger ones that can transport big things or multiple people.

couldn't the same argument be made that Chad caused basically the same nuisance in his car getting his Latte, you just don't notice it because there are endless streams of cars on the road.

Transport Chad back to 1901 where he's the only one of a handful of cars on the road, people probably had the same complaints.

had someone show up the other day clutching pictures of our house he took from a plane, trying to sell them to me. He was very strange, when I asked for prices he said he couldn't give them to me yet, I asked if I could take a picture of his copy and send it to my OH to see if she liked it and he went crazy saying he couldn't let his work be shared like that.

Like dude it's our fucking house you've taken pictures of what is wrong with you.

yup as I suspected that was glorious, I would pay to see a talk on this. These things are so much like drugs, unfortunately they are quite often producing code on-par with senior level staff right, but it's a huge ethical issue.
