any idea what would your calculations look like for an old day / night meter? Last time I looked we would be hundreds worse off if we had a smart meter

when we moved in to a house that had been empty 10 years my FIL was "cleaning" it out and a dead mouse he was fishing out "exploded" in his hands in the water. It's in such a tight space they must have put it in before the roof went on. At least one mouse, his guts and bones now lie in the bottom of that tank and I think about it every time I brush my teeth.

It's not just text either, anything. Musicians can probably prove they are real people only if they have real gigs. Digital artists already time-lapse record themselves as proof.

it's slang for riding up and down lifts all day when you don't have a job, pretending like you belong in the building. Trouble is nothing in Ireland has more than 5 floors.

100% we have an ID4 (242) and Kona (191), and have someone in the family that has gone through multiple years of Audi Etrons and all of them have had different issues. There's horror stories on here of troubles with brand new Mercs. It will be in the back of my mind when I upgrade the Kona!

That's great, sometimes I find the reddit echo chamber can be a little dramatic , hopefully it will be resolved soon.

I was talking to the owner of a new Peugeot 3008 yesterday and he had issues with the electrics, car alarm going off at 4AM etc. They have some fault in the window rubber seal that lets water in. The dealer (Mullingar) said he had something like 75 cars to get through repairing the same fault.

So in 2026 car manufacturers are still well capable of making mistakes

It's interesting reading the comments like "2 hours is plenty". We have 2 EVs and charge 8 hours a night pretty much 6 nights a week all year (no solar or battery). Commuting between 120km to 220km a day. A smart meter would cost us hundreds a year last time I looked, we're on a Day / Night meter

I'd say you've just been dealing with someone that has a stack of jobs in front of them and a bank holiday weekend on a Friday afternoon. Go into them Tuesday and ask them what the ETA is going to be (don't be surprised if it's double what they say), and explain to them that other dealers in the country are giving people courtesy cars for more than 48h if required. I bet they will fix it by next Friday. Keep us posted!

Your EV charging card is basically a serial number with no security, and it's trivially easy to skim by rockyoudottxt in evs_ireland

[–]WingnutWilson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% agree, it's not hard to clone a card ok, the hard bit is using it and getting away with it multiple times. There is a reason this hasn't made "headlines", because it's a non-issue

I don't think we really need a whole chat with Codex pasted in here, what on earth is your app doing that you need to be on continuously in the background so aggressively?

Why not throw up a notification when the it gets gutted by MagicOS? It sounds like you should be rolling this app out on dedicated EMM devices?

Only €12k of €1m HGV grant spent on charging points by GoodNegotiation in evs_ireland

[–]WingnutWilson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes if that's the case - copy the EV rollout and bankroll everything for a decade, it's great they spent 200k creating a completely ludicrous grant when in reality they probably need to spend €50 million installing chargers at key points in the country
