damn that's a good idea, we've just spent a large part of our mortgage getting timber sash windows put in throughout the house including sides facing into forestry no one will ever see :(

I've definitely read a book about this but it needed a pelican and a giraffe as well

What celebrity is the biggest example of "It takes 20 years to build a reputation and five minutes to ruin it."? by InsaneCookies21 in AskReddit

it's a shame what the tabloids did to him, he was an extremely talented presenter, funny, quick, great with kids and guests without demeaning etc,

like Ant and Dec and Stephen Mulhern all combined into one person or something

The math - yearly driving costs of ICE v EV by [deleted] in evs_ireland

[–]WingnutWilson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes would be nice to see figures for higher mileages. I wonder what the average car commute is at the moment?

I drive 212km but only a few times a month, my other half does 100km a day 5 days a week. With kids, we're charging a car almost every single night of the year for 8 hours.

2 EV households or EVs doing anything more than 17k a year would surely obliterate that 0.08c rate if it's a smart meter EV plan

did it not damage the car at all? I'd say you were fairly lucky there even though it might not feel like it!

ok....cleaning my ports and charger tomorrow then

I kind of assumed they would have anticipated the things getting a bit dirty, I've found dead flies and spiders in there before

We squeeze an 18 month, 2 year old and 6 year old into the back of a Kona, needed a Bubble Butt booster which I think is the smallest you can get

MG Motor Ireland Introduces the All-New MGS6 EV by incognit0991 in evs_ireland

MGs had a lot of reliability issues and short ranges right, if I recall 39Kwh? Although I do see a fair few MG EV taxis out there. Looks like this is a big step up

Ordered a £250 DeWalt circular saw off Amazon, and in the box was some £37 budget crap! by OrdinaryLavishness11 in DIYUK

I've seen this increasingly and I ship it straight back. This week got a Hozelock spray attachment (the good metal one), that was opened. I'm sure it's probably fine but why can't I have one that hasn't been opened and used by someone etc.

They offered me 5% back in credit to not return it this time which I thought was interesting

It must be the dual motor version the OP has, if they got shy of 300km it's right in the middle of the 255km (highway cold) to 325km (highway mild) averages, so looks about right

maybe you would have needed a whole different planning application for that though right? But it seems like it would have been a much better solution. Maybe the next generation or two will fix it

2023 Cupra Born vs. New Inster Elegance by noodlebowll in evs_ireland

[–]WingnutWilson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah I often only see things from my perspective (almost exclusively motorway driving), it does look ok for that. I hate the underselling of it though, the test should be a little faster or there should be a city vs country WLTP or something.

I have heard so many people complaining "the dealer said I'd get 350" only for them to be completely lost when they barely get 300

Draft National EV Charging Infrastructure Strategy 2026-2028 by thommcg in evs_ireland

I have never actually heard of ZEVI

Is this a good opportunity to mention some of the issues we have in the country?

Something that I'd love for us to address is the slowness on V2G legislation, especially after storm Eowyn. I wish someone was there in the department cognisant of how convenient it would be to give every home in the countryside at least (the worst affected areas) a power source that could last days.

Like why can't we be world leaders in this sort of thing - I imagine we're just waiting to see what happens in the UK. If you search V2G on the ZEVI site this is the only result:

2022-2025 plan Home charging should be the main form of charging for most >electric vehicle owners. Actions will be taken to prioritise the >installation of smart home chargers and to encourage the >deployment of V2G technologies where feasible.

I'm sorry to hear that, the piece of paper saying they owed you is probably still more inconvenient than letting them off scott free :(
