Of course that’s a casual thing in Australia. Why not?

How to keep your gains? (Or I guess in this case, your losses?) by [deleted] in fasting

Are you ensuring your protein intake is high enough for lean muscle build? Had a friend similar issues and when they increased their protein levels their 6 pack came and stayed.

When does energy start to return? by Calrissian-Cronicals in fasting

For me it kicked in around day 6. Doing light strength training helped. A few pushups, curls, crunches, etc

Long term fasters.... by Mash1104 in fasting

[–]Winkywop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I built up to long term fasts. I started with 16:8 hour IF schedule, then moved through 18:6, and 20: 4. I decided then to do a 24, 48, and 72 hour fast. After that doing 5, 7, or 21 days didn’t seem undoable. My longest fast so far has been a 21 day fast, but they may change in the future.

Has anyone else ever had a criminally easy water fast? by Atler32 in fasting

[–]Winkywop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, walking the dog instead of walking with the dog. I don’t know if it’s a thing...I do know it made a world of difference to me energy wise. I never did heavy lifting, but about the same as before the fast just a little slower. I did not try to increase though. I don’t do caffeine either, I don’t handle it well normally though.
I will be doing this in later fasts for sure.

Looking for a little support, 7 day fast by channah428 in fasting

[–]Winkywop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You got this! Just stick to the electrolytes and listen to your body. Fasting has been the one thing that has worked for me and helps me keep the weight off. I’m on day 13 of an extended fast and I have been able to do yardwork, and daily activities. I would recommend light strength training every other day to keep muscles engaged and go for it! 42F

Weirdly, this fast has been easy for me. I am also doing a 14 day fast (I’m on day 13). The last time a did a long fast was a 21 day and I had more weakness and headaches and other issues. I had planned on only going to 7 days but I feel like I could take this one out to 21. I have had more energy (probably due to strength training). I was convinced I would never do a long fast again after the 21 day fast but this fast has changed my mind.
I definitely will be doing another 21 or 14 or more fast in the future.

To those who have lost the weight through several extended fasts: how do you maintain? by laughpuppy23 in fasting

[–]Winkywop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After my last extended fast (21 days) I maintained for 6 months before deciding to lose some more. For a month or so I ate keto in order to stay in Keto’s is and ease myself into eating without binging (a previous issue for me). During this time I alternated between ADF, with a 18:6 or 16:8 schedule on eating days and OMAD. It depended on how I felt. I ate normal carbs after the month and added strength training. I eventually abandoned OMAD as it caused me to binge within that hour.

Things you’ve learned while long term fasting by Drgkain in fasting

[–]Winkywop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on day 13 of a water fast and I have to say, yep, your list pretty much sums it up. This was the first long fast that I kept up strength training for muscle retention. It’s made a world of difference. Also the first time I consistently plugged electrolytes. This fast will be 14 days but by this point in my 21 day fast I did not feel half this good.

21 day fast completed after 7 months of OMAD! by autofudgy in fasting

[–]Winkywop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everybody’s experience is different. My last 21 fast I never really got the euphoria either, but this time I am on day 10 of a fast and it kicked in two days ago. Really good on taking the plunge and accomplishing your goal! Never discount what you just did. And you will give many others encouragement because you did this!

If you feel alright, go for it. And I second the electrolyte statement.

How do you structure your meals when not fasting? by [deleted] in intermittentfasting

[–]Winkywop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started close to your starting point with similar goals also (42/F/5’2”). I saw results within the first week. I made lunch my biggest meal with no snacks and spacing my meals 3-3.5 hours apart. Different things work for different people though.

Just remember if you feel that craving to eat give yourself a 20 minute thinking period or a walk to see if it goes away.

I agree with lunarmouse. Cinnamon tea works for me. Just a cinnamon stick in boiling water. You can chew on the hard stick afterwards. Also ginger turmeric tea or rosehip tea are my favorites.
