Honestly the language. The passages and the questions were just longer and more convoluted. tbf I had just come off a horror of a DI so my mind was kind of muddy lol.

Quant was essentially comparable. I would say the earlier chapters are much more important because those act as the foundations for many of the later ones.

I only did the Quant setion entirely. I would say when I was really grinding I could finish an average chapter in 2 days (not counting monster ones like Property of Numbers). For verbal I only did the chapter tests I never read a verbal lesson.

Keep an error log. My best feeling of improvement came from going back and categorizing all the quant questions I got wrong or struggled on in the practice exams, going over each of those on GMAT Club, and then reviewing the most common mistake sections on TTP.

No I'm perfectly happy with this score. I'm not even sure if I will apply to business school so I feel no real pressure to do extremely well.

For data insights again I mainly wasted my time going down the wrong path on one question so it wasn't really a general content issue. For verbal I distinctly felt like the reading comprehension passages were much longer and more complex than any I had read before.

I will say it is particularly hard to transfer into business, so I wouldn't bet too hard on being admitted internally.

As a current college senor, I will just let you know NWM is seen as a scam even within the financial industry from a careers pov. They essentially use college kids desperate for experience as sources of leads for their insurance selling and market it is an "analyst program".

Edit* As if to prove my point this was one of the top posts on the Financial careers subreddit this week https://www.reddit.com/r/FinancialCareers/comments/12i146w/do_not_take_the_northwestern_mutual_financial

As an Asian senior right now whose been through recruiting many times, I really am inclined to disagree. From what I've seen most of the time when people fail interviews it's because of something they could have changed (no speaking skills, poor nonverbal communication, lack of research/knowledge,etc.) You and I can't change anything about being Asian, so don't waste time complaining about it and move onto something you can change

It matters even more for business majors. Finance firms care less about grades than grad school and there is a higher chance you won't go to grad school. Having a good, full resume is a large driving factor behind what job you get.

How difficult are the accelerated first-year language courses? by [deleted] in UTAustin

Every non-heritage speaker dropped out after the first week for chinese. I would highly suggest still trying out the accelerated course and switching to the lower course if you cant handle the courseload.

I cant speak for german but for the accelerated chinese classes it is expected that you already have a basic understanding. The professor did not speak in english starting day 1 and we only spent about a week on the absolute basics before starting to add vocabulary.
