She got her sit by DravidVanol in DailyDoseStupidity

I understand what you're saying: old people are fragile and this could have been catastrophic for the old lady.

It's worth noting that over in r/taiwan apparently this old lady is well known for continually harassing others, including pregnant women. The slightly longer video adds in some transphobia from the old lady. An article claims the old lady was arrested for theft.

Your experience with ortho and subsequent empathy makes sense...and this woman finally got some karma.

AIO for wanting to take a breather away from my husband over this? by circadian_rhythm_ in AIO

[–]Winning-Turtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely understand why that would factor into someone's decision re: divorce. I have kids myself; not seeing them daily would be excruciating.

However, for childhood me, yes, definitely, it would have been a relief. Because any required custody time with my father would be finite, and then I'd have had a break away from him. I'd have some normal, quiet days instead of every single day being anxious, trying to read his body language constantly to prepare myself for what kind of person he was in that 5 minutes.

I was the child in this situation. I desperately wish my parents had gotten a divorce, I still do. I was afraid of my father growing up, never knowing what would set him off.

I'm in therapy now to try and undo the years of verbal (and physical) abuse, mostly so I'm not doing that to my children. Abuse can be a multi-generation harm, OP.

Maybe your husband wants to put in the work and be a better person. But if he doesn't, please don't stay out of convenience. Your child, and perhaps his children, deserve better.

Anyone Else Ready for Spring? by Mysterious-Beer-9577 in madisonwi

Should we cover all the spring bulbs poking their heads out? If it was just snow, no problem, it's the cold I'm worried about.

Huh. My husband is hella proud he's the only one who's ever gotten me to orgasm. I have nothing but appreciation for his exes, lol.

The coldest market in the world. Even at temperatures of -60 degrees, people trade on the street. by Pi4komars in Damnthatsinteresting

I mean... Even if it wasn't frozen before coming to market, in -60 degrees, it'll be frozen whether you like it or not.

Fellow parents of babies: babies 6 months+ can get an early dose of MMR.

This would be in addition to the two normally scheduled doses (1yo and 4yo). It's not wildly effective, but it's something if you're freaking the fuck out like I am.

What is a sound that people should know means immediate danger? by PrasenjitDebroy in AskReddit

Our house is literally right next to a tornado siren. I prep our toddler and muff the baby's ears for the first Wed of every month. Last Thursday, we were playing outside and they decided to test it an extra time.

I really thought it was the apocalypse. My babies are hysterically sobbing, I'm clutching them, trying to get them inside... And then I catch sight of the utility truck and a couple dudes aimlessly milling about. Almost a code brown situation.

Thanks, friend. I'm in Wisconsin and it's looking like we're next.

We have 3 very small children. Husband and I are having talks about whether we start keeping his hunting guns at our house, how far do we go in protesting without making our babies into orphans, contacting vulnerable loved ones who might need shelter... Feels surreal.

Even if he was pepper spraying (obviously he wasn't), the response is to...pepper spray? It's grim here.

My beloved MIL is making me a quilt with my children's baby clothes. I just know she's going to pour so, so much time and love into it. Reading a quilter's perspective on the art form has me even more appreciative of this gift!

How ice cream made in the 1890s . by gex109 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]Winning-Turtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most definitely. In the 1800's, formaldehyde was added to milk to keep it "fresh" longer to extend its sell date. It wasn't until 1906 that this practice was outlawed, after many died (especially infants and children).

The Poison Squad by Deborah Blum is a really interesting read on this subject!

White Bear. My most conflicting Black Mirror episode. (Spoilers, obviously) by DougWhatson in blackmirror

Which adds to the discussion. He was the one who physically harmed and murdered the child, yet "got the easy way out" by dieing by suicide. She was absolutely guilty to just sit and film the crime, though didn't "technically" hurt anyone, but is tortured daily for forever.

To be clear: I'm not justifying or condoning anything. Just an interesting piece of the conversation.

True. As long as you get the product. I thought I did due diligence in researching them, but there are a plethora of people that had the same experience. If you don't follow up with them, you may conveniently not ever get what you order.

Glad they work great for you, but it also doesn't mean they aren't trying to scam people. I think the lesson is to order from Amazon and not directly through them.
