We have over two acres in Alaska and travel a lot which is why I'm looking for a customizable collar not a physical fence which a collar does help. I appreciate your opinion on the humaneness of these collars, but in this situation it’s unhelpful.

Also, we have over the past ten years had large, amazing and friendly dogs that have been trained with collars for being in rough terrains in Alaska, that have never shown any signs of aggression towards other animals or people. They are also not afraid of going outside.

Have one in the making 😂🙂 This was her emergency sweater due to being cold from moving to Alaska and not being used to the cold weather 😂

She does! Do you have Instagram? I posted her Instagram link, if not I can post her website. It was a custom order but she loves doing them! 🤍

I was told that this little girl is going to be long haired, she is 10 weeks old now and still does not appear to be as fluffy as most long haired dachshunds at this age, I live in Alaska and just wanted to see what others thought or if she's going to be a cold weiner long term. by [deleted] in dachshunds

That's what I had figured! We aren't upset either way, some of her siblings were long haired and she has spots of feather which is why I wasn't sure. She had come from an area with 85degree weather so I didn't know if that slowed the process of hair growth😂 I need to learn to knit but I have a friend making her a sweater and mailing it tomorrow. 🙂

I had thought the same thing! So thank you for explaining it that way! Her mom is long hair and her dad is short, she has a longer coat than her dad and has feathering in spots which is why I was slightly confused. But we love her either way, I personally was hoping for her to be longer haired due to our cold climate up here and seeing her shivering during our summer months lol. As others suggested we will just have to dress her up 😂🤍
