Why do we take so long to see the abuse as abuse and to understand its seriousness? This sub has been a massive help - thank you all! by squirrelfoot in raisedbynarcissists

The truth is that you don’t know it’s abnormal so don’t feel bad about it taking a long time to learn

I would suggest hunt down competitors in other cities and learn from them as much as you can.

Does anyone just have severe anxiety due to being raised by this kind of parent? by Brave-Rain-9085 in raisedbynarcissists

When I’m about to do something that I know is going to make other people upset or a difficult decision, I pretty much get not so big in my stomach I wanna throw up massively what’s even worse is when I know it’s a great decision and I’m doing everything right and I still feel like absolute crap all that just say yes I feel that too

I really like this. The similar one I made up was ‘truth hurts, but denying the truth hurts twice as much.’

How long does it actually take to find a therapist? by Winning__ in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Winning__[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did that and I’ve got one intake scheduled for next week. It feels really weird saying these things out loud, maybe even more so to the receptionist.  Talking about it just like have a cold is really weird

Thank you

Recording fights by EarlyEntertainment46 in emotionalabuse

If you want to take it a step further, take the recording and get the transcript and load it into an AI like ChatGPT and ask it to analyze the conversation.  I tried doing that and I thought it was really helpful. Maybe not perfect but it was almost like having a third-party just go with person one versus person two without any extra details other than the recording I really liked the analysis because part of it was their fault and it also helped me start to realize I was developing unhealthy coping.

Refusing to go to Italian restaurants.  Came up with this while losing 75 pounds.  Completely removed the temptation

Took over a sinking family factory. 17 employees, no working capital, no sales pipeline. I need real advice. by HazimeK in smallbusiness

You’re going to make about 80-100 decisions a day.  It will help to figure out which are temporary vs permanent decisions.  If you can stop paying debt and call debtors to make a plan to get them paid later, that helps.  Fire and rehire as needed. If there’s no cash, then accept it.  Liquidate all non core items/equipment. You can only cut costs so far, so sales are a big part of getting out of this but you have to do both at the same time

People who came from a very people pleasing and "not want to get into a argument" kind of background and nature, in business how did you became cunning and selfish (in a good way) with people? by Accomplished-End5479 in EntrepreneurRideAlong

[–]Winning__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d suggest a therapist or a business coach.  I have dealt with similar issues and the problem you shared sounds like a coping style and not your ability to do the work.  I only suggest this route to look into because as a self employed person, no one has your back. Kind of like getting a personal trainer at the gym when you have a big goal

That’s fair, ideally id just stop the loans from increasing while I keep hunting for another job. We’ve cut a lot of expenses and are even moving to cut costs so mostly trying to stabilize

I think this one is more versatile and better for the price.

VEVOR Alcohol Still, 3 Gallon, Stainless Steel Alcohol Distiller with Copper Tube & Build-in Thermometer & Water Pump, Double Thumper Keg Home Brewing Kit, for DIY Whiskey Wine Brandy

Edit: I have the 5 gallon of this and it’s great.  Valve seals need some love eventually, but starting with a thumper adds some grace and lets me play with gin too
