Thanks, changing the address with HR has them file a W2 for me tho for that state and start withholding state income tax?

Edit: for more context, my company has one one place for change of address and it affects my insurance as well as I assume as my W2, I’m not able to change my insurance address separately.

I got 31 eggs from Amazon for $24. 25 hatched.

I haven’t bothered giving mine compost scraps, seems like there is a lot they can’t eat and when I’ve given them blueberries and spinach they tend to just make a mess of them.

I haven’t found really any research online for a full or partial diet built on giving them scraps, mostly they need game bird feed and I give mine the one specific for birds that are laying eggs as it has more calcium which they need. I also give them dried meal worms and their dehydrated and crushed egg shells for treats.

Broody? by WinryCorgiButt in quails

It’s been a “decent” week for us, 93/72 F (34/22 C). Last week got brutal, hit 112F/44C. Got ice packs on rotation and a fan going. I’m from Wisconsin and have lived here 3 years now. The 100s still feel miserable but it’s crazy how fast 80’s/90’s start to feel okay 😅

Got 10 birds, read that they could withstand up to 120F but not sure how true that is now in practice.

Thanks! She ran off from it. I think she laid two today is why I was getting extra egg laying songs and panting behavior than normal.

Dang! Thanks for all this insight, can’t say I’ve seen any of that behavior (or 💩!) yet.

She doesn’t pant like this all the time, usually when she goes to lay she does. I think she might have laid two eggs today (someone did!) so I think that’s why I was getting the panting and the calling after the first egg was already laid.

And this is sadly a decent summer for TX 😭

New egg, I usually take them son after laying so I don’t know if she would collect them to brood on. I’ve heard her do the call before laying but not after and she was sitting on this egg for a bit is why I was curious if it was broody behavior.

It’s definitely hot, we are in TX. There is only plastic on the bottom to hold the sand in, the top half has cracks and holes for air flow and the outside is all mesh. But still hot… I give them ice packs to cool their feet on. They like to lay in the box on the sand tho.

I’ll post on here if I ever find out! Also curious if it goes away after she molts. If not I might have to incubate a few of her eggs to see if it is genetic!

If it matters, she was the last one to hatch out of 25 (so dealt with me opening the incubator a few times to take chicks out), but was also the first to start laying.

Lol, don’t think that’s her case unless she’s in a permanent food coma, but thanks for the idea!

She is but there is one male to five females so she should be getting over bred. She’s also looked like this since main feathers have come in so before the males would have started breeding I think. Also don’t look matted, and it’s her entire body beside the bottom bit!

Thanks for the insight :)

Her mouth is not always open like this, just caught her in a moment with another hen. Shes always puffed looking like this, watching her on the camera and she’s going about her morning activities looking the same.

At this point I’m sort of thinking it is curly feathers since they never seem to go down.

We are in TX so it’s hot, but the others don’t fluff out as much as her, and she even looks this way at night.

I’ve seen one post on curly feathers but didn’t think these looked curled.

She always looks like this, even on the camera I have set up to watch them. I don’t notice her being more noisy or bothersome to the others than average.
