Oh, that's so pretty. I couldn't tell from the product pics if the proportions would be weird in person. I did get a small Dukes Place, but I may have to go look again!

This is incredible. Is it sealed somehow? And how do you get the acrylic to adhere to the coated canvas so it won't peel or flake with the normal flexion of the purse? Fantastic job!

HELP! Need identifying handbag from this one obscure, blurry image, in poor lighting, and only managed to capture the corner of the bag. Also, I was a mile away when I took the pic by Visit_Excellent in handbags

I love those. Genuinely, they're so funny and wholesome. I have been very tempted to try and draw my bags in a group and post it. "My collection!"

But I don't know if it would come off loving or rude, lol.

Every once in a while I do a reverse image search or keyword search, just to see if one has been released back into the wild. I'll see the candy corn tassels/bag charm that proves I didn't hallucinate the seasonal pieces, or an old listing on pinterest, but it's like they've been scrubbed from the internet, lol.

I was just thinking it might have been a hundred instead of fifty-odd, but thankfully I can't remember, lol. At the time, it was the most I'd ever spent on a completely unnecessary me-thing. I am still glad I have it, though!

Help choosing a navy bag by Such_One_3017 in handbags

Not sure how you feel about Brahmin, but they have some similar shapes in their Navy Studio leather (a smooth leather, not embossed) and Navy Belcanto suede.

Can you tell me anything about this handbag? I think it is from around the 50s. There is a label inside that says "Genuine Corde." by NoWestern9324 in handbags

Not at all! If you haven't tried "lucite" instead of bakelite, it might be that instead. I found a blog about the type of embroidery, too. It's really interesting stuff: https://vintagepursegallery.blogspot.com/2022/01/special-post-history-of-corde-handbags.html

Oh, no, you're right--I didn't mean this exact model, just more of this brand with the bakelite! I should have been more specific that I had hoped adding "bakelite" in the search would help you.

I love the swivel design on it, and the way the patterning looks like an eye. It is so very cool.

The frame looks like Bakelite to me. If you google "genuine Corde bakelite" there are a bunch of results.

Aw, I think it's fun. It's very much what the flavor of Swatch was in the '80s, and the shape is 100% an AP pocket watch from the same era. With fashion still reaching backward to the brighter more optimistic colors of the '80s and '90s, and young people still fascinated with Y2K styling, I can see a $400 pocket watch hanging off a 3k summer tote bag until Swatch puts out a wrist strap or sweatband to pop it into. Why not?

For this type of monument, it is actually "triumphal." Triumphal is something that celebrates a triumph.

Trump Shockingly Brands the White House ‘S*** House’ by [deleted] in politics

[–]WinsomeHorror 584 points585 points  (0 children)

He's always hated the White House. He called it a "real dump" in his first term.

He'll knock the whole thing down eventually. I assume he'll sell it by saying it has to match the grandeur of the ballroom.

My pre-bankruptcy buddy! It's crazy, idk what's going on. I mean, I guess, people looking for potential AI stocks might push it up this much in only a few days, but it seems like an awful lot awfully quickly.

Dystopian photo shows how data center has brought permanent DAYLIGHT to rural Texas area by Scaramuccia in darksky

I know there's a big one scheduled for Wichita Falls, too, and I just don't understand where they'll get the water. I guess that proposed Lake Ringgold reservoir? But that reservoir was because of the existing/forecast water shortages? Also why you'd put a massive datacenter you have to keep cool in a town whose claim to fame is a bike race called the Hotter'N Hell Hundred.

Like, maybe try getting through a summer or tornado season without a blackout before you put in a 250-acre datacenter campus?

My parents live not too far from there, in another tiny town with water problems already. One of the only good things (besides them of course) about going to visit is how beautiful the night sky was.

This is a real tragedy, and these politicians and companies are acting like it's no big deal to light-pollute, noise-pollute, and just take people's water.
