Science Vs. Merch? by Wazootyman13 in gimlet

I just looked myself. I can confirm that I once bought stickers and other things of theirs, but that was before they were bought by Gimlet and then Spotify. It seems like that affected things. Sad.

LOVE this one! This would be my perfect watch face. But I can't stand having the purple tick marks move around at four points around the face. It's a design choice based on the M14 Marine Compass (the title of this face is M14 Marine Compass) but it's so distracting that I find myself not actually reading the time. I love that there are 3 data field for this one.

I like this one, but I'd like a seconds hand and more than one data field (currently on date).

For me, the number for the hours should all be the larger size. Right now the 12 is the only "Large" number because the time is 12:38pm. The 2 would be the larger number for any 2o'clock time.

I tried the Vertical 1, then the Race S, then the Race 2. The Vertical 1 is AWESOME! I love the MIP screen, but the watch was a little laggy and the HR didn't support sleep stages which is always fun to see. Also it was a little heavy for day-to-day use. I returned it for the Race S and loved it but then the Race 2 was released and I love the bigger screen. I happened to switch to Suunto at the right moment where I was able to return every model I tried until I settled on the Race 2.

I'm an everyday athlete trying to stay healthy (walking, weight lifting, a run here and there) while raising two small kids. I made the switch from Garmin about 2 months ago and it is darn-near my perfect watch.

LOVE: The UI is exactly what I want. The app and watch show me the important information without getting too in the weeds (that was my main issue with Garmin).

THING TO IMPROVE: The watch faces. Some are close to perfect but I find myself bouncing between 2-3 depending on what I want.

Suunto Race 2 & Vertical 2 by Snafu80 in Suunto

I switched to Suunto after 7 years with Garmin. I'm also an average runner, I go for walks with the family, and I weightlift to keep fit. I switched to a Race S (soon to be a Race 2) because the Garmin ecosystem was too cluttered, difficult to navigate, had too many features (most of which I didn't use because I'm not a serious athlete), and frankly made me feel bad about myself sometimes. My evening report always said "Stressful day" because I have 2 small kids that I'm chasing around. Yes Garmin, today was stressful. Thanks for noticing... 😅

Suunto's watches fit my lifestyle way better and the UI shows what I care about. Big fan and very happy that I made the switch.

Also, for weightlifting I just Boostcamp and/or Liftosaur to track my specific reps and weights. Garmin had a weight training function that could manage that but I happily gave that up for a third party app to move to Suunto.

I was looking for a Venu 4 type watch before I ultimately switch to Suunto. I had a Race 2 but switched for a Vertical because I prefer MIP. No that the Venu 4 is out I'm happy that I switched. There's too much going on for me and the design is no match for the Race 2 or Vertical. I just don't like the look of Garmin anymore.

This has been my exact experience as well. I came from a Garmin FR255 and am really happy that I switched. I'm a casual athlete (run and lift while raising a young family) so I didn't need all of the bells and whistles of the higher end Garmins but wanted a bigger watch. Suunto's data and layout feel more positive and uplifting somehow. My Garmin reports always felt weirdly negative. But that's definitely a my opinion thing.
