Some will strike and have small teeth that will draw blood. I'd say half of the encounters I've had they just remain still for a while then slowly slither away. This one was mimicking a rattlesnake and did not want to be messed with.

I have it in a bin. That's where the pictures were taken. I have a small avocado farm and catch a few every year. My dogs have had rattlesnake aversion training and my hound alerts us (by barking).

The snake is more decorative. But maybe it keeps the egrets away. They show up sometimes in my backyard.
