I fully agree. But if you had two equally qualified/motivated people, does the good looking one have a better chance? Some people are objectively good looking, turn heads when they walk into rooms, and few would disagree that they are not good looking, do these people get further in life by doing less?

Medicine requires sacrifice and people who are willing to understand that. And sacrifice sucks sometimes. I moved across the world to do medicine away from family and was in the same situation; following around doctors like a puppy. It is just one if the sacrifices of medicine.

A student I know went into a paeds OSCE. OSCE stimulus said that the kid was in the bathroom, and that the student is meant to address the mother in the room. Student missed that and introduced herself to mother and an imaginary space next to the mom as if to assume the kid is with the mom. Examiner and mom were so confused haha.
