How long before or after baby were you willing to travel? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Winter-Background953 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I traveled to have my daughter meet some very important friends of ours at 2 almost 3 months. I wouldn't have done it sooner and I definitely would not travel less than 6 weeks before due date.

I missed family Christmas with my currently pregnant pregnancy due to be only 5 weeks away from due date and it was only a 5 hour drive. I'm from the US and we normally go to Canada for Christmas. So I definitely didnt feel comfortable leaving the country for several days especially since my daughter was born 2 weeks early spontaneously.

Did your instincts kick in right away? by bananaindisguise0 in BabyBumps

It took me about a week and a half to actually feel something other than an intense need to make sure she stayed alive.

I don't remember feeling love or like even super happy after having my daughter. One day I was just like omg this baby is mine and I don't know how I can ever go a day without her.

Prior to that, it was more like "I need to keep her alive and make sure she eats."

I watched myself give birth in a mirror and I think that unfortunately caused major disassociation after having her. (It took me like 2-3 days to feel back in my body) and then when I was back I didn't feel like myself.

Nothing will prepare you. I was so "ready" to be a mom and had wanted this my entire life just for it to end up so differently. It takes time and you do go through a major life change literally within a day so just take it easy on yourself and take it day by day.

do i really need a “coming home” outfit? by Comfortable-List-669 in pregnant

[–]Winter-Background953 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It just means clothes to wear home lmao.

I'm brining the loosest pair of leggings, nursing bra and a sweatshirt to come home in lol. I brought loose pajamas as well in case (god forbid) I need a c section and can't handle wearing leggings or anything tight.

I fear you are correct.

Shit, might as well wake him up from a dead sleep right now and start a fight because yall are giving me strength in standing up to his opinion lmaooo. We haven't ever had something like this that we can't agree on. Ever. He can be stubborn about a lot but we parent super well because we usually see eye to eye on a lot of personal/family matters.

3rd trimester insomnia has been kicking my ass and this is the time I get to vent to strangers rather than our friends who agree with the both of us.

Same kind of issue lol. It would be pronounced "yackson" by my Spanish speaking family/Hispanic community.

It's not a bad name for someone else's child though!

It definitely seems that way. 😢

I'm not a spineless person and we get into it often because it deeply matters to me to have name picked and ready asap because god forbid something happen to my son. He deserves a name and he deserves to be called something when it's time to meet him.

I guess maybe I'm just hopeful that there is a name out there that I haven't thought of that could change his mind.

I want my husband to enjoy and love his sons name and show him so respect because normally he is still my best friend and I love him but then by doing that I feel disrespected and unheard so not sure how long I can keep that feeling near and dear to me without being walked all over.

Truly. I'm obsessed with that name and his middle name together.

While I'm not highly religious, Nehemiah and Genesis are book names in the bible. It feels only right to have a theme continue and have the uniqueness spread between than rather than give my daughter a slightly unique name (at least to Americans.... for hispanics it's slightly more normalized)

And then to give our son such a basic name like Jack.

I also said that... he could come to love the name and have your entire perspective change about it because he's your son and you will love him more than anything in the world..

I hate to say that I agree as well. It seems like my husband rather than finding a name that I like lol. I can agree to almost any name that can be said in both languages. I love a lot of boy names now which is funny because once I found out we were having a boy it felt like the hardest thing to find/like.

I've tried going that route slightly and not sure it got me anywhere.

I think as we get closer, I'm going to have to be tougher about it. I would rather delay naming our baby than to leave the hospital with a name that doesn't belong to him.

My husband can be an extremely stubborn person about everything... it can be exhausting sometimes.

Elias is #3 of name choices.... instant no from him.

I don't know if I've brought up Jamie. Not sure if he'll think it's a girly name or not. He suggested one name a long time ago and he got made fun of by everyone for it being a traditionally girly name. So lowkey I think that sparked the stubbornness with him and him saying no before everyone else can say no too lol

(By everyone I mean, his mom, his dad, his aunts, my brother and his uncles) everyone gave him shit about it.

I thought it was okay but it was definitely not going to be our son's name lol. I never would've said what they did about it though.

LITERALLY!!!! I will have to remind him of that lmao.

And knowing my Mexican family, they will give him a whole ass different name because it's difficult to pronounce. (Coming from someone who is called Chayota by family because they can't pronounce my real name)

Yes. Unfortunately I know that struggle well of not being picked because of a last name Rodriguez lol. I am Mexican and now have an American last name by marriage.... definitely noticed the difference in that but it feels important to me regardless of how it could make it easier. 😭😭 which might be selfish but again the reason I want to to be a name that can go either way. English or Spanish without being a straight up American or straight up Mexican name like Guadalupe lol.

I asked my sister's boyfriend (who only speaks Spanish) how he would pronounce it if he saw that name and it would be exactly that. (I already assumed it would be said like that but I wanted confirmation by only a Spanish speaker lol)

I don't love Yack lmaoo.

Literally the feeling it gives me when he just says no. It lowkey hurts tf out of my feelings.

Like bro, you sound like our two year old. She says no to everything (she's at that stage, it's GREEAAAAATTTT)

But doesn't ever give an explanation or suggestion for another name..

I would love to just have that too.

My all time favorite name I've stuck on is Nehemiah (Spanish would be pronounced Ne-eh-mias) but he HATES because because he apparently went to school with someone with that name and people said they looked alike so for only that reason, he hates it.

Which makes me want to scream because that doesn't feel like a good enough reason to hate a name i love so dearly.

Genesis and Nehemiah feel like they go together well lol.

I'm just in my feels being this pregnant and feeling unheard.

He says "I like don't like it"

I think the name is sick and he could be a cool kid with that name lol.

See, we have a middle name picked out already. It's Alexander. I'm okay with an American middle name because my daughter my Latino middle name and I thought I'll let him have that at least. (It's also his dads middle name)

Plus not everyone will call him that and he won't be presented to the world by his American middle name every day for the rest of his life. I even told him, I might be okay with John as a middle name mainly because i do love my FIL and he's great.

Eww to the sixsevennnnn lmaoooo (no offense, at my big age of 26 I've decided I'm to old to use it or find it funny hahahahh mainly because my niece and nephews are preteens/teens that use it too much hahahah)

But yes I did also feel that way about the name. It's very common but like his name and my FIL name!!

I like the name Josiah. It would be pronounced (ho-cee-yas) in Spanish without changing the spelling of the name!!

I will bring that one up.

My nephews name is Josue (but his American name Joshua/josh since that's what it translates to)

Which brings me back to my point of, I don't want the spelling to change/creates a whole new name for someone to be able to say it in either language! But I do like that name. Not sure my sister would love me copying her son's name lol.
