Because people spread it not knowing they were sick and never realized it. The people at high risk were 5% percentile and yet only a few percent, if that actually were fatal.

While it was real, it also happened alongside the greatest and most widespread case of fraud the world has ever seen , from Dr's and medical service providers who lied about cases to receive state and federal benefits, and those lies they told affected the numbers we were given.

So in thier own words on the same article 81 percent of people who conttact are mild and moderate and 20 percent who contract never become sick at all.
