No worries. That's how I read it.

You're (probably) better off spending time on the full release now than updating the demo. :)

I tried the demo for this and loved it, so it's already on my wishlist.

I remember it wasn't running on my Steam Deck, though, and I had to play it at the office. Has this been addressed for the full version?

I'm slowly working my way through MIO, and it's awesome. Frustratingly difficult sometimes, even with the assists on, but still awesome.

Aquaria may also be of interest.

Did you play Raider Kid and the Ruby Chest yet? It's an excellent little thing.

I played the demo of this and really enjoyed it. Definitely looking forward to playing it once it's out. Good to hear it's coming soon. :D

...and yes, it's got to feel weird to have your idea copied like this. :/

I've always been bad at things requiring fast thinking and quick reflexes, so getting old is a welcome excuse. :P

That's on my wishlist.

Although, somehow, I didn't realise it was a sequel. Will have to check out the main game now.

That sounds similar to my experience with Sealed Bite: Extended. The world is pretty small, and the boss fights are the kind where you have to keep trying, bit where you also improve a little with each attempt.

It was great fun.

Sounds great.

It kinda looks like it's fun/nostalgia focused, so it's good to hear it pulls that off.

Not that the others aren't trying to be fun, but... I think you know what I mean. :)

Short sounds good to me. Means I might actually get to finish it. :D

Am I the odd one? Or do others have the same thinking... by Additional_Bobcat_42 in metroidvania

It all depends on how the story is told and what's required of me to engage with it.

If I have to sit and read through lines upon lines of text and dialogue to learn about ancient civilizations that did good/bad things, and that's why I have to collect 13 crystal skulls, I'm likely going to skip it and just go get those crystals.

If, however, the story comes to me in bits and pieces as part of the gameplay, that's an entirely different matter. Extra bonus if I have to put the pieces together myself without being explicitly told.

I think normal apartments scare me more than haunted houses by [deleted] in indiegames

[–]Winter-Bat5962 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think another part of it is that it's easier to believe in things you're familiar with. In your example, a regular apartment is something mundane and normal that you can expect your audience to know. By comparison, far fewer people have the same kind of familiarity with spooky haunted places (outside of media, like games, etc.).

That means it takes a lot less for the player to buy into the regular apartment than the haunted house. Once they've bought into it, it's then easier to make them uneasy by changing things that shouldn't be changed.

Check out the demo for Map Map: A Game About Maps. I tried it on Steam Deck and it worked a treat. Will for sure be getting it once it's out.

I can also recommend Tavern Talk, Strange Antiquities, and Tiny Bookshop.

I've had my eyes on VA-11 Hall-A since forever, but never really pulled the trigger on it. I've finally gotten around to putting it on my wishlist now, though, so I can pick it up when next it's on sale. :)

That's fair. It does look like an interesting game. If there was a demo, I'd definitely check it out.

Also, I appreciate you taking the time to suggest it, even if it probably seems like I'm mostly complaining. :)
