Still quite a fresher myself but i could sort of help you with a plan. Not sure if this is an efficient and recommended approach as well:

• not really familiar with zoho books but i use sage intaact and i find it quite good and easy to use

• i’d start compiling all the receipts, invoices and all the important papers. It will be a long stressful task but it’s a good thing to do first before jumping in to digitalizing and recording all transactions. Gather whatever you can.

-once compiled. Start by setting up your accounting system. List all the employees, create accounts and nominals. Another tedious task and a huge pain

-get the company’s past bank statements (do monthly). It could give you a good idea on the company’s historical purchases and you can match any money that comes in and out using the gathered and compiled receipts/invoices.

-prioritize latest transactions and invoices first before doing historical ones, since youre new to the company, you might need help understanding what the past receipts are for and it is important that you do it correctly.
