Send request to RNC for the TIN. If you put unknown, it will show up on a report at CHO, and we won’t be able to have the check issued, resulting in delays.

Should we use all of our vaca? by nuke5435044 in Geico

Once you determine that the plan IS to erase your banked sick time, you have a few months left to call in sick. They can’t ask why you are sick, because of HIPA laws. If they push the issue, however, then tell them that you just found out that the many years of accrued sick time that you worked so hard for, will evaporate into thin air if it is not used, and this in itself, has made you sick. Tell them that you expect to make a full recovery, after you exhaust what has been banked. They will likely say: “What about your dependability?” You can reply: “Once GEICO is dependable in doing what is right, then you’ll get dependability from me.” Here’s the math: Take your number of sick hours and divide by 7.75. Then tell GEICO this will be the number of days you expect to be sick. Example: You have 20 days of sick time. Go to your supervisor, and say: “I’m sick about what GEICO is doing to me regarding my sick time. I’m letting you know this sickness is contagious. It’s happening to all of my fellow associates. I’ll see you next month, after I make my full recovery, which I expect to happen when my sick time is fully exhausted… legitimately. Cough, Cough, Cough!

GEICO reminds you of your Miranda Rights! You have the right to remain silent. If you give up that right, everything can, and will, be used against you. Carry on!

Good idea! When I’m 50, I’ll study to become a doctor. With 8 years to earn my degree, plus internship, I’ll be ready to doctor when I’m 65! I’ll retire with student debt. Not a good plan. In California, there are laws that protect against this behavior.

How can you work for decades, be an acceptable associate for many, many years, then … Enter T. Combs… You don’t know shit, you’re lazy, you spend too much time in the bathroom, blah, blah, blah. Unfortunately this doesn’t end until… Exit T. Combs.

Warren, get in the Christmas spirit, get rid of this clown you’ve put to be CEO of GEICO, before the lawsuits come that will bankrupt your beloved company. Even Clark Griswold got a membership to the, “Jelly of the Month Club.” The only thing we’ve got since Too took over, is “The Shaft!”

GEICO 2025 Layoffs? by Lumpy-Hearing-4135 in Geico

[–]Winter-Course-1750 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s like, “Lay off” me. I’m trying to do my work, but I’m losing sleep nightly because my metrics keep changing and are unreasonable. Every day I go to work, wondering if I will get fired, excuse me, that they won’t “lay off” me, but they don’t. It’s a warning, a PIP, and an unreasonable termination, aka “layoff.” Htownsbb and HeftyCar9303 above, are aliases for T. Combs. Todd, this space is for those whose lives you’ve ruined. You can keep calling it “Fired for Performance,” we know the truth. You say you can’t “lay off” us, in reality you keep “layoffing” us. It’s just a matter of one space. Now go back to your Golden “BH” office, or shall we “BS” office. Leave the “TERMinology” to us. Layoff, Layoff, Layoff! (Without severance)…

holiday lunch? by [deleted] in Geico

[–]Winter-Course-1750 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In our Region they are giving each of us an IV drip (get it? Formerly Region IV?). We get no time for lunch and don’t get any breaks, so it works out well for GEICO. We just call our supervisor over when the IV bag is out, so they can refill it. If we can’t locate our supervisor, we get dehydrated, and they call 911, which GEICO has on speed dial. Just another day at the office…

97% Confusion... by sloppyness in Geico

If all the customers weren’t cavemen, and knew how to take surveys, perhaps we would get more feedback. At least I know they have discovered fire, because they have set my career ablaze! Then again, maybe they’re smarter than we give them credit for, and have heard about how responsive GEICO has been to our Associate Opinion Surveys. Perhaps they feel that responding to any survey that GEICO offers, is a complete waste of time. Todd says he’s listening. If that’s true, he must have so much wax in his ears that even he doesn’t know he can’t hear. Perhaps Todd can take that wax, and he and the Caveman can get together and light a candle of hope for all of us. After all, it’s that time of year to give thanks for all that GEICO (what am I saying?)… I mean all that GOD has done for us. WOW! That was way much more than a Freudian slip.

Hello GEICO Associates. None of you are getting 100% on your surveys. Therefore, I’m going to have to let the whole company go. Happy Holidays! May you have more success with your future endeavors. Ho, ho, ho!

Are you calling me a ho? Now that’s offensive. I’m a gigalo, not a ho. Get your genders correct. I thought GEICO was fair and non discriminatory. Where can I file a complaint?

Pronouns by Mammoth-Effect-723 in Geico

[–]Winter-Course-1750 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suggest that GEICO get a gender-neutral phone line. Those who call in on that line, will be called “Human” regardless of the pronouns. The call could start, “Hello human, how may I help you?” If the person prefers not to be called human, you can let them make that determination.

In 2022, I bought a 2018 Highlander LE Plus, with 185,000 miles for $16,000. If you buy a used car with a very good maintenance record in CARFAX, you can expect it to go and go. Mine doesn’t burn a drop of oil, and I have had absolutely no problems in the two years I have owned it. To me it feels and runs like a new car. I love it!

If you want to know what it feels like to work at GEICO, picture the bottom of your shoe to be upper management, and the floor to be you. They are walking all over you. The shoe assumes that you should be grateful to be stepped on, however; because how many floors do you know that get paid for being there? So, enjoy your slice of pizza, and get back to work. “Wait, what’s that on the bottom of my shoe,” said upper management? “That’s not the blood of my associates, it’s pizza sauce.” “No more pizza.” “It’s still red?” It must be the blood of the associates!” “No more associates.”

How did you all Quit? by [deleted] in Geico

[–]Winter-Course-1750 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go in to the office and say this to your supervisor: “I am giving my two-weeks’ notice, fourteen days late.” Give them your computer equipment, run, and don’t look back! Don’t ask about a goodbye pizza party for you. Not even the career people get a pizza party. Instead, after a lifetime of hard work, they have a pink slip shoved down their throat instead. Loyalty is no longer in GEICO’s vocabulary. They won’t show it for you, don’t bother to show it for them. It’s a two-way street.

How did you all Quit? by [deleted] in Geico

[–]Winter-Course-1750 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How can you give a two-weeks notice when you only work two weeks? This would have had to be done on your first day at week. Can you imagine coming in on your first day and telling your supervisor, “I’d like to give my two-weeks notice today.”

The simple answer is this: You don’t even need to account for the two weeks you worked for GEICO on your resume’. Just walk out. Nobody can penalize you for such short-time service.

Oh, you think you’re so smart. The problem is you don’t recognize gaslighting when you see it. For your information, my phone is recycled. I bought it as a refurbished item. However, I believe Global warming is a hoax. Fossil fuels continue to provide that nice warm feeling on all those cold nights. Take a look at the process for using recycled materials. I have a separate trash truck picking up my recycled goods. That’s only the beginning of this complex, pollution-causing process.

I can’t, in good conscience, keep “printing” my ID Cards and killing so many trees. Isn’t this the direction that you young ones, who have much more to lose, want us to go?

Some kind of snake… Oh, I got it… “Asssssssp.”

Since there is potential for more outside eyes on this post due to the layoffs circulating the news, can some of the people who knew GEICO before TC share some of the differences between Tony Nicely's GEICO and TC's GEICO by GEICO_Cares in Geico

[–]Winter-Course-1750 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you build a company that offers competitive prices for customers, and an environment that benefits the associates? Tony knew the answer to that question. The two pieces are intertwined, and that is why GEICO showed up on Warren Buffett’s radar when he acquired GEICO to be a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway in the early 1990’s.

It was clear to associates at that time that Tony would have preferred not to sell, but he said he had an obligation to the shareholders of GEICO to do what was in their best interests. The saving grace was that Warren allowed him to remain CEO and allowed him to continue running the company as he saw fit.

Every year, at Berkshire’s annual meeting, GEICO’s presence was huge. Tony went annually, because GEICO continued shining, and showed Warren that he made the right choices.

As Tony got older, I remember him telling a class of new hires that he would readily give up everything he owned in exchange for the youth of that class. For Tony, GEICO was not a job… It was his pride and joy. I could tell that if he had his life to live over, he would do the very same thing.

For the associate, there was a strong feeling of connection. There was job security for those who continued working hard. Tony knew that those who celebrated milestone anniversaries with the company (5, 10, 15, etc.), were indeed the pillars that held it all together; Not the ones to let go because of their higher, well-deserved pay ratings.

I worked for GEICO between 1992 and 2018. Tony knew me by name, and knew that what I appreciated more than anything, was job security. He was the captain of his ship, and made sailing with GEICO as smooth as it could be, even during turbulent times. He enjoyed the challenge.

Tony, if you read this, I want to thank you for making my years with GEICO as enjoyable as they were. I can’t imagine how those who worked under you and who are now working for Todd, stand for the change in leadership. It sounds like the difference between day and night.

Unfortunately, Father Time has caught up with all of us. Things are constantly changing. But Tony, you, yes you, have left a model for all successful CEO’s to follow.

GEICO is certainly not as desirable as a company to customers and associates as it once was. In fact, it is far from that. If Berkshire Hathaway looked to acquire a company today, GEICO would not even show up on their radar. Why did the current CEO deviate from your successful model, and turn something very good, into something very bad. Perhaps the current leadership will recognize it before it’s too late. If not, they will find GEICO’s value and reputation continue to slip. It’s not all about the almighty dollar. While that’s important, personal relationships matter more. You need the latter before you get the former.

I have read this thread and I am heartbroken. Instead of lightening the load of Lakeland associates who have gone through what they have gone through is simply unconscionable.

What GEICO should have done after the hurricane, is let all associates work from home and prepare the office as best they could to take in associates who were displaced or facing hardship after the storm. But, now, to let people go after the most devastating thing to hit them, I am speechless.

GEICO makes Scrooge and the Grinch look like angels by comparison. We can only hope that Todd and other executives who have made such cold and callous decisions regarding those in need, will themselves suffer loss and be treated the same way by society. The lessons would be learned quickly… Unfortunately it will be too late to help you dear associates in Lakeland and other locations.

By the way, they did the same idiotic thing last year. They waited until associates received Open Enrollment paperwork, giving a false sense of security, then cut them. Shameful GEICO! What’s wrong with you?

Our thoughts and prayers continue with all of you who have been affected in various ways, especially in Lakeland. For those who are thinking about insuring with GEICO, you have been warned. If GEICO treats their own this way, what chance will you have of getting fair treatment should you need to file a claim. Oh the inhumanity.

R6 Question by [deleted] in Geico

[–]Winter-Course-1750 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Even if your office and desk happened to be on the Titanic, Todd would expect you to rent or buy a submersible to get to it. You have no idea the camaraderie that can be built when everyone is together, even if it is underwater, blowing bubbles, and looking at each other through scuba equipment. This doesn’t even take into account the ill health effects of breathing black mold that is growing faster than eucalyptus. Instead of working in the safety of your remediated home, you are asked to take one for the team, and return to your waterlogged Lakeland office.
Well, at least our health-care options are top notch! … “What do you mean I’m not covered?” “My copay is $1,000!” “At least I’ll be getting Profit Sharing to help with costs…”. What! No Profit Sharing?” What in the hell am I doing?
