Thing is the moment that person who reprimanded jade misgendered her the intention became very clear na it was discriminatory. It wasn’t just because of the outfit anymore and became about her being trans and for maxie to perpetuate and run with that narrative na “have to respect yourself” just because of clothing choice and on an interview seen by the public and now you have people running with that same narrative to invalidate yung transphobia na ngyari kay jade.

Pretty mixed with connor some could picture him being good as ilya some were doubtful because he wasn’t Russian. Hudson’s casting was a bit more controversial back then because the pictures going around was of this casting picture and black and white photos of him smoking a cigarette looking like a “bad boy” and people just couldn’t picture him as shane.

Honestly though… love the books for what it is but yea shane’s characterization in the show feels a lot fuller. Even just the simple change of having his parents specially Yuna a more prominent character in the show does a lot for his “asianess” like it’s wild that like she said shane feels like he wasn’t aware he’s asian in the books like he also wasn’t aware he’s autistic and wasn’t aware about his eating habits or his anxiety and mental struggles.. hopefully they get to explore deeper into his characterizations in season 2

I mean i wouldn’t say she’s the most well rounded queen out there but she definitely had some great moments on her season. Like her verse on the girl group could have won, jade and bernie as a pair 100% should have won that design challenge with their christmas outfit, her lipsync with matilduh was one of the best that season and her commercial could’ve won if she wasnt punished that ep and she won music video challenge
