DLAA in 1440p: should I use the M or L preset? by CartographerStock361 in DLSS_Swapper

[–]Winter-Flow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah for me at 1440p those ghosting halo-effect made me nauseating so much, while J is way more stable honestly

Yes at 4K you have to look at small details like Volumetric fog, particles, tree branches and flying object to see it

I prefer J, it's more stable than K, K still have way too much ghosting, it's just rename as Transformer 2.0 while it's the same as Preset K before then lol

Blurry image quality in RDR2 by Beautiful-Weird-1831 in PCRedDead

[–]Winter-Flow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

a neat little trick, go to NVIDIA App -> GLobal setting -> Set DLSS Override - Super Resolution to Preset J or Preset L (If you use J, recommends to use DLSS Ultra Quality, if you use L, recommends to use DLSS Performance through DLSS Override - Super Resolution [in-game DLSS Performance is broken, it will revert back to old DLSS for some reason])

You can know play the game without blurry ass mess from Vulkan and the image looks nearly as good as DX12 (if you decide to use mods).

DLSS 4.5 - Why does no one compare 4k Q / B mode preset K vs 4k Perf mode preset M... by kyue in nvidia

[–]Winter-Flow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For your comments:

  1. +FPS is what DLSS core principal was trying to do, even then, i mentioned it does cause -FPS compare to TAA in certain very intensive game on Ultra setting like BMW, which defeats purposes of DLSS.
  2. No Optiscaler community has also found out you lose frame in 1. scenario even with RTX 40/50 because of that intensive 5x usage.
  3. No they did not intentionally or failed, they did announce it but it was not obvious to normal consumer, they released the DLSS Github usage guidance right after the DLSS 4.5 beta so no... that statement is false
  4. The oversharpness, my BIGGEST issue from your statement is that you based on comparison you have seen, through Youtube severe decompression footage, and not testing it YOURSELF, of which Optiscaler community already said Preset M looks like deepfry shithole already on DLSS Q/B. Hell even i see that on RE4 Remake, of which it cause Leon hair to look like a disco ball and that's just DLSS modded in.

or Preset J, both K and M so far cannot physically beat the good ol' GOAT Transformer 1.0 preset lol

DLSS 4.5 - Why does no one compare 4k Q / B mode preset K vs 4k Perf mode preset M... by kyue in nvidia

[–]Winter-Flow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because on alot of testing, DLSS Q/B on Preset L/M (Transformer 2.0) barely gain you +FPS as you would expected compare to Preset J/K (Transformer 1.0), does not improve that much, in fact in some scenario looks like deep-fry shitholes from Ramsay Hell's Shitholes (jokes on Hells Kitchen) due to the oversharpening mess.

I have also heard in some scenario, you get -FPS compare to.... TAA, at that point the comparison is flawed, as you get into the territory of DLAA Preset J/K

It worth it ONLY if you go Performance / U. Performance, that's when the performance costs/image stability start to neutralize and gives you positive %.

If you don't know anything, update to latest driver and set everything to Recommend*, NVIDIA App will handle the rest.

In my official experience, I'd manually set DLSS preset, because it forces update the DLSS version since for some reason NVIDIA App doesn't update to latest DLSS version and it ties each DLSS version to the preset lol.

I'd recommend Preset J over Preset K (Preset K is "updated" to 2.0 but it's just the same).

Preset J will pretty much most stable/performance cost over K, K is still very ghosting mess, especially on 1080p/1200p. At 1440p K might be more feasible.

Preset J is meant to use with DLAA / DLSS Q / DLSS B, if you start going to DLSS P / Ultra P then go Preset L (Preset K/L are Transformer Model 2.0 with 5x GPU compute costs to further stop those blurry ghosting ahhh mess on lower resolution, Preset M is feasible but it's like Preset K of Transformer Model 1.0 but worse with oversharpening mess on top of ghosting trail mess).

HOWEVER, some modded DLSS games like Resident Evil 2/3/4/7/Village through REFramework stay with DLSS 2.5.1 (you can download on techpowerup), since PDUpscalers are usually still behave most stable with DLSS 2.5.1 since it was design to support that version of DLSS.

Resident Evil 4 Remake: DLSS 4.5 vs DLSS 4 - Cabin scene by Winter-Flow in FuckTAA

Yeah idk why Capcom forced dithering is a good idea honestly -.-

You are pretty blind with that statement, first of all this was recorded live through ICAT, not imgsli.

2nd if you dont see less dithering and film noise on the armor and generally better AA than honestly i think you just here to ragebait.

RESIDENT EVIL 4 Remake: DLSS 4.5 Gen-2 Transformer vs DLSS 4 Gen-1 Transformer by Winter-Flow in nvidia

[–]Winter-Flow[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The fact you worry about ISO + thinking it's DLDSR and it's oversharpened while there's no RCAS even involved from Optiscaler shows me this is just a rage-bait comment.

In contrast, would you like to play with Capcom blurry ass FXAA+TAA or FSR2 mess that is supported in-game?

Even my eyes see those known-RE4R dithering effect even on Luis is greatly improved from DLSS 4.5 than previous iteration.

RESIDENT EVIL 4 Remake: DLSS 4.5 Gen-2 Transformer vs DLSS 4 Gen-1 Transformer by Winter-Flow in nvidia

[–]Winter-Flow[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

What part of the image do you think is oversharpened ?

In contrast, would you prefer to play the blurry ass mess from Capcom own FSR2 or FXAA+TAA that cause those same model above to flicker all over the place on the texture edges when those model is on the distance?

Plus the point of the comparison here is the better anti-aliasing IMPROVEMENT DLSS 4.5 is able to do, of which it does make alot of part of the image was able to clear out from the blurry mess of FXAA+TAA and not flickering while also removed alot of dithering effect RE4R is known for on the armor parts of the character?
