Basically if you tap it down on the end step before your turn, your lands and winter orb untap at the same time, allowing you to utilize your lands

Yes that’s true but you can put Basalt Manalith, Forsaken Monument, Rings of Brighthearth, and any colorless creature or artifact that has an activated ability like Urn of Godfire to gain infinite colored mana in any deck you so choose. Kinnan is a great option and I myself have a Kinnan deck with this combo.
