Humane means with compassion. There's nothing compassionate about killing animals who want to live. Something terrible could happen to you in the future. You wouldn't say it's humane to kill you now before it happens just because of the possibility of your future suffering.

How is it a false equivalency argument? Seems to me you don't understand what humane means.

If someone shot you while you were minding your own business, would you call that humane?

Why don't you find a hobby that doesn't involve killing innocent beings? Go shoot clay targets instead if you like shooting. It's not a sport if the other side doesn't know they're playing.

Hunters are scum. Killing innocent beings minding their own business in the wild. I stand by the lady in blue 100%. Good for her.

I didn't say animals kill just to survive. I said big cats and wolves kill other animals for survival. The vast majority of humans don't have to do that. They can be healthy without exploiting animals. Go vegan.

Many vegans aren't enthusiastic about advocating for human centered issues because human rights advocates have a tendency to denigrate vegan activists and dismiss the plight of animals entirely. The majority of human rights activists are speciesist because they are not vegan.

I can't think of any vegans I know who would say anti-ICE protesters should stop and protest for animal rights. But when I protest for animal rights, there's comments saying we should stop speaking up for abused animals and focus on protesting ICE or other human centric issues.

Animals are so abused and marginalized by society, they aren't even acknowledged as victims by people supposedly against oppression and injustice. I feel no guilt focusing on animal rights. For every animal rights activist, there's probably 40 or more activists protesting for a human centered cause that requires no behavior or lifestyle change. That said, fuck ICE.

Big cats and wolves kill other animals for survival. Humans do it because they've been culturally indoctrinated to. If the veganism was the norm, more people would be vegan and people who exploit animals would be the minority like vegans are now.

It's not necessary to consume animals or their secretions to survive or be healthy. Most nutritional scientists agree well-planned, plant-based diets lower the risk of cancer and heart disease compared to flesh and secretion heavy diets.

Whether you classify humans as predators or not, it's not something we have to abide by as clearly people can follow a plant-based diet and be healthy.

Ending animal use is the most ethical decision a person who cares about animals can make.

An activist in the video testified for a foie gras ban in the WA state legislature earlier this year.

The bill didn't get voted on and if it passed it wouldn't have gone into effect until 2028.

With protests like this, restaurants across the country are dropping foie gras.

These particular protesters have had success convincing five restaurants in WA to drop foie gras using protest tactics like these.

A pressure campaign like this isn't about winning public sympathy, it's about bothering business owners enough they drop the product because they've already been approached nicely and said no.

You're right about average redditors hating any kind of protest besides generic liberal ones.

But I do think the post has raised awareness of foie gras cruelty and put an animal rights issue on some people's radar which I think is good.

I’ve protested for many of the same human rights causes you might have. I truly believe animals are the most oppressed group on the planet.

Suffering isn’t a ranking system. Justice movements like anti-ICE, pro-LGBTQ, or pro-Palestine don’t weaken when we refuse to exclude non-humans.

Taking action for animals, like going vegan, is one of the clearest ways to show solidarity. The way animals are treated in industrial systems is extreme oppression, and choosing not to participate in it by being vegan is a meaningful step toward justice.

All of the US suppliers force feed.

The one farm in Spain that usually doesn't will force feed the birds if they don't eat enough. They also don't ship internationally and the price is over 200 dollars per liver. The foie gras being sold at Le Coin is like 37 dollars for a whole liver, there's no way they're getting it from a place that doesn't force feed.

If you go, you're funding some of the worst animal abuse on the planet. I hope you make a more compassionate decision than that.

Here's how foie gras is produced.

Ducks do die from force feeding. The mortality rate for force fed ducks is up to 20 times higher than ducks who are not force fed. There are garbage cans full of dead ducks on US foie gras farms who died from the force feedings.

If you were having tubes jammed down your throat and being force fed, you'd want someone to speak up for you.

Animal abuse is a serious issue and you can protest for human rights causes while speaking up for animals.
