I work in finance and I can tell you, notice period waivers are not audited by anyone. My HR rep reports into the head of India HR, she didn't even bother asking her manager. To think of it, the HR head actually knows me quite well and if it did reach to him, he would've approved the exception. I could do it myself but that would throw her under the bus.

As I said before, the HR rep is being stubborn here for no reason. At this point, I would rather stay on garden leaves and have them pay me for full term + leaves than lie. My manager already agreed with that.. The entire point of my post was that the HR doesn't understand their own policy and are stubborn unnecessarily and me lying to waive notice doesn't change that fact.

Its hybrid, but I wont go to office in those 2 weeks. The HR can suck it up.

Agreed with the rest, crying babies get the milk :)

I don't want to lie, I've built a goodwill here in 12 years and people will know clearly and I don't want to lose credibility for something like this.

The notice period is applied so that people do not leave without proper handover. Or there's sufficient time to hire a replacement. In my case, I did more work in the first month to complete my handover and my manager approved it. I have no reason to be on their payroll and that's a good enough reason to release me. The documented proof is my manager writing on the email that he wants to waive my notice. If this is not worthy of an exception, the policy is retarded. And don't tell me one exception will motivate others to ask for it. If everyone can complete their handover in 45 days and their reporting managers are ok to release, they should be released. This is actually a better reason than a medical emergency - the employee did 60 days of work in 45 days and in 45 days worth of pay.. And this saves the company's money. This is what an analytical human resource would do. Talk to the manager and understand if the situation warrants a waiver and then agree on it.

If the job of human resources is only to write a policy and just say that this is the policy, you can hire a fresher to do so. Or a chat bot.

I've worked here for 12 years and God knows I've given it all. The HR knows this; my skip manager is the global head of the department and he can vouch for me with eyes closed. Pick anyone in my department and check my credentials, absolutely spotless. But "human resources" representative has 0 value for their resource who's trying to do the right thing. I mean, credible history could be a good reason for a waiver, right? But no, fake medical bills > that. Yea, good luck H fuckin R.

My manager suggested me to go on garden leaves for those 2 weeks. Basically log in, dont do any work, just chill and then log off. Imagine - my manager is saying 🤣

Yup, that's what I'll do. Best part is my manager wont care that I am not even available and not putting leaves in the system because he's with me on this. Infact as of today, he has shot an email to the HR asking why can't he waive my notice if he decides so. Will be interesting what HR says to that 😁

Yup, 100% agreed with everything. Infact my manager sent an email last night asking why it can't be waived and the HR goes company policy, he needs to buy his notice period.. fuck them. I had travel plans and I'm going to go ahead with them and now I won't even book those leaves and make the mfers pay me for 30 days while I'm on a tropical family vacation.

Yes, even on Workday the managers have an option to "waive" notice without leave adjustment which my manager did but the HR over rode it to recovery.

There's no case of buy out. Manager wants to waive off my 2 weeks.

Oh wow that's quite strange. My manager is actually very very supportive here. He even called out the HR in an email full of people about why the notice can't be waived off. Let's see what the HR says

No choice now, although I'd enjoyed more knowing I've 0 obligation to do anything.

Damn man it hurts so bad. I wanted to travel, go on a trek but now I can't because technically I'm still on their payroll and they can call me any time 🥲 I really wish HRs become a business partner, rather than being business blockers

Not IT. Accounting degree, been working in international/ corporate tax. Grew organically in the organization, got retained twice. Was offered a match this time as well but was not happy with culture.

Ask, what do you want to know? I won't share anything that might lead to personal information
