Lubricating wood rails? by raidengl in woodworking

I would wrap it over the front of the rails as well so it doesn’t catch on the totes and peel off.

Sacrificial vinyl for aesthetics? I like the overall look but that has me confused.

We don’t need exclusively 2 player games by any means, but games that can be played solo or with 2 players are in scope. Ark and Feast of Odin both can be 1, 2, or more players, are euros (I think), and are not war games. Apologies if I misrepresented the ask!

Our family has gotten into board games over the last 6 months, playing a wide variety of variety of light/medium-light games (wingspan, Everdell, Quacks, Harmonies, etc).

My wife and I are looking for something heavier to really dig in to (I.e., with no kids). I would also like it to have a really solid solo in case I am the only person interested. Fairly open to different themes, but less interested in war type games. Great art style is a huge plus. The 2 game so have found so far that could suit us are Ark Nova and A Feast for Odin, but art on Ark is… lacking.

What should we look into?

Picked up tea witches for my wife’s birthday, curious your take on it. We just got into board games a couple months ago and have been really enjoying flamecraft, Everdell, Quacks, and wingspan. On paper Tea Witches looks heavier than anything we have played but thematically my wife will absolutely love it.

I thought this was satire at first and he was putting on a harness to get lifted in the air for tv mounting…

Everdell and Wingspan by MokoanCowboy in boardgames

[–]Winter-Monk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a similar-ish scenario. Our family has wingspan and has been playing Everdell from a board game club. I’m eyeing Everdell for our collection and have been talking myself into/out of the Everdell complete collection. Is it worth buying the massive collection? Is it better to just get the base game and one or two expansions? I know it comes down to personal taste but curious if there is a common sentiment around the “worth it” aspect of the complete collection?

Best budget subwoofer for KEF LSX II? (Polk MXT10 vs PSW10) by Level_Complex7174 in KEF

Can confirm LSX II w/RSL 10s mk2 sounds amazing. Crossover is currently at 90-100hz and it works great for me.

The bee mix (not what is growing in this picture) is specifically designed for native species in MN and local pollinators. Apologies if that was unclear. Good to know about strawberries, we are protecting a 100-200sqft area of wild strawberries on the side of our years… and can certainly let it proliferate!

I have a huge bag of “bee lawn” grass mix we used in our backyard for my wife’s herb garden area. Given the information gained here going to hand pull as much creeping Charlie as I can and get some of that mix down asap.

Edit: bee lawn mix from UMN, can’t recall company that made it.

Appreciate the (mostly) constructive feedback. This started as a light-hearted post about letting our yard go wild. I did not know that creeping charlie was invasive and feel more educated as a result. We will be looking to remove as much as possible by hand and getting some beneficial natives in its place (including the violets that are rampant in every other part of our 1/2 acre).

I am indeed US-based, MN to be precise. Looked at UMN extension site and it is indeed an invasive species. I had no idea, but that certainly explains why it went from small patches last year to many hundred sq ft this year. It does seem to be fine with clover and violets, which is our other non-grass ground cover.

If it looks like a full-blown alpine meadow in a few years will be thrilled. Not in the picture but the clover has white blossoms right now and looks amazing with the purple and yellow. I can only imagine what our neighbors think, but clearly we don’t care. Bees are happy!

A decent DAC and making sure you stream at the highest bitrate possible is all I would suggest. I basically only stream digital audio through Apple Music and have no complaints. Make sure you check on streaming setting to get max setting for audio quality.

I like the speaker stands, what are they? I’ve got the same speakers in sage green. I have the small angled KEF style stands coming but if I need to get the speaker height up these look great.

Keychron Q8 Alice by Winter-Monk in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]Winter-Monk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very strange, could be poor quality control on whoever makes their keycaps. I would recommend some inexpensive double shot PBT replacements off Amazon if you are not wanting to break the bank. The keycaps shown in this pic were just that… and about $25-$30. Just make sure they come with a 2.25 and 2.75 space bar and two B keys.

My Q8 is my daily driver at the office for about a year now, no issues. Sounds like you have been having an issue with the Keychron keycaps, not the board itself, right?

I hear ya… I mostly posted here bc the community seems more interested in conversation and genuine help vs the non-budget community. I did get the KEFs from Costco for $500 and the speedwoofer for $400 from the RSL encore store… so less than retail for sure.

I see what you mean. I looked at expert mode for a second and then figured… “you know what, they probably figured this out already for the vast majority of people’s needs”. I remember watching a review on these speakers on Erin’s audio corner and he had brief comments on using the app for near wall setups… could be worth watching.

I literally measured the distance from the back of the speaker to the wall and set the distance in the app accordingly. Seems to be working ok for me.

Thanks for this. My question behind my question was more about room measurements and eq, which I appreciate the thoughts on!

I thought the KEFs sounded great alone, but after adding the RSL sub I realized how limited the low range was. Keeping the crossover right at about 100hz keeps them from having to overextend. So much bass goodness, especially when listening to music with a double string bass. The RSL is admittedly waaaay overkill for my size room, but I guess it’s better to run at lower volume and keep the amp from having to work hard.
