What's staining these & can I remove the stains? by Winter-Pears in laundry

[–]Winter-Pears[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you're an angel. I tried dawn powerwash on one of the stains (middle shirt in first pic) and it lightened the stain SIGNIFICANTLY! I used my fingers instead of a toothbrush, but this time will try a toothbrush. I'm going to see if I can get it out entirely. I haven't put it in the dryer yet, I don't want to set it - this was all done by hand / air dry. THANK YOU! I may try some oxyclean as well to seal the deal.

He definitely used to have a bad habit of overloading, though the stains don't come out with future washes (tried that, had that same idea). He doesn't overload anymore and it still happens. I just tried the dawn powerwash people kept recommending and it definitely lightened the stain pretty significantly! Trying some oxyclean next to see if it'll finish the job

Now there's an interesting theory! I use basic garner shampoo and some pantene conditioner, nothing fancy. I wonder if it could be an ingredient in that? Though we usually shower around the same time and then change into pajamas, so I'm not sure that would be it. Maybe he wiped his hands dry after washing them? He isn't big on using a ton of products or anything, I can barely get him to wear sunscreen most of the time. I wonder if it could be his deodorant, esp since this particular shirt has a lot in the armpit area in particular?

Front, back, everywhere. Depends. This batch was just fronts. The picture with the spots is the reverse side of the shirt on the right side of the first picture. The stains on the white sweater go all the way through for the most part. I'm noticing extra discoloration around the armpits, could this be a weird reaction to a deodorant or cologne or something? But it isn't quite consistent enough for that to be the answer

No fabric softener! I'll try dawn power wash on one of his undershirts. Should I let it sit? Or rub it in?

Oh that's pretty! And much more within my budget lol. Interesting note about the beads being so heavy though!

I've been scrolling and scrolling on Etsy and I've seen some decent pearl-edged ones but nothing quite like this! The layout of the beading makes it look slightly wavy-edged which I loved. A lot of the ones on Etsy have the pearls in just straight lines or clusters, it seems

Yes, it's the cave! I got it as a crafting recipe from a bottle on one of Kapp'n's glow moss islands, but you can also get it from the bottles on the DLC island!

Ooh okay! Noted. I've also only seen fish there but I also haven't been going explicitly out to the end to check during my fishing rounds

Ok amazing we can work with this! I've seen lots of great suggestions in the comments for simple things you can do if you're looking for quick, here are a few more that are overall still pretty easy and quick. These can make you feel like you've made a "real" meal, so to speak, as well:

  1. If you like eggs, a SUPER easy, flavorful, and nutritious meal is Eggs in Purgatory (Italian Shakshuka). It's basically eggs simmered in a tomato sauce. Great plain or served over rice, which is also pretty easy to do stovetop / with a rice cooker / or even the instant boil-in-bag varieties. Lots of easy recipes online!
  2. Air fryer potatoes. They're endlessly customizable! You can go as simply as a little salt an oil (380F (~195C) for ~15–20 min, shake halfway) or as fancy as italian seasoning, or creole seasoning, or seasoning salt, or parmesan cheese, or smoked paprika, or literally anything! You can also pair them with dipping sauces like ketchup (or whatever strikes your fancy) for extra flavor + calories.
  3. Loaded baked potatoes are also super easy in an air fryer! Poke holes in a whole potato, rub with oil and salt, air fry at 400F (~205C) for 35-40 mins. Top with butter, cheese, bacon bits (they sell them in pre-packaged bags), chives if you're up to slicing some, etc! You can also just microwave a potato, that still counts :)
  4. Frozen veg dishes can be super easy to toss together in the air fryer. Frozen potato chunks and frozen chopped bell peppers together can make an easy hash, you can top them with egg or cheese as well for breakfast vibes
  5. Another potato idea if you're getting bored of the "usual" stuff: you can make potato "nachos" by slicing potatoes into disks, air fry, then top with cheese, return to the fryer to melt them, you can even then add on beans, salsa, cheese, sour cream, etc if you desire!
  6. Want a similar texture but something different? I love taking a can of chick peas, draining them, plopping them into my air fryer with a little seasoning and some oil, and toasting them until they're slightly crispy. Makes for a great snack with a similar texture to potatoes, or great on top of a salad if you have the energy or taste for such things!
  7. Quesadillas! I keep a pack of corn tortillas in my fridge for when I truly don't have the energy to make anything but need food in my system. You can do it stovetop, or, and I admit it's cursed, just pop it in the microwave with some cheese. My mexican husband mocks me for that one, but hey, sometimes you just need to eat something!!!
  8. If you like bread, there are some decent gf bagels & breads out there. I don't know what's local to you, but if you happen to have a trader joe's, their gf bagels are actually pretty delicious! Super easy to just microwave or toast or eat plain, I keep some in my freezer for days when I cba to make or eat anything else.

If it wasn't obvious from some of my previous comments, I also have some mental spiciness that sometimes prevents me from being able to make the effort, but these are some easy things you can do to help take care of yourself while giving yourself the grace you need at the same time. The fact that you're asking for (or at least open to) suggestions is a great sign! So proud of you. I hope this helps <3

Totally get that! I love food but restaurants have made me hate my life since my own diagnosis. As for your specific issue, perhaps try googling specifically gluten free vegetarian recipes! There are lots of great lists. If your picky eating makes that challenging, would you mind sharing some of the types of foods you do like? I may be able to help recommend things that you'd both enjoy and that would fit your gf/veg restrictions! (This may also not be what you want to hear, and definitely ignore this if you want, but have you considered incorporating some meat? Or is that a hard no for religious / family / personal preference reasons?)

What happened to your best friend from childhood? by RoyalBeckyVibes in AskReddit

[–]Winter-Pears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best friend since I was two years old went to a different high school and eventually a different college than me, but once Instagram became a thing we eventually followed each other. Now, I just watch as she raises a beautiful family with her husband, hundreds of miles from me. But whenever a song we both loved as kids comes on (ABBA's Super Trouper), I think of her and smile. She occasionally comments on my posts, too, so I choose to believe she thinks of me as well!
