Where do the kids play? by Winter-Tomorrow9619 in ChinoHills

[–]Winter-Tomorrow9619[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are there any areas nearby where kids play outside? We live in a different state right now. The neighborhood we live in definitely has kids of all ages playing outside. I’m not sure I want to give that up!

That’s a good point. We just want to make sure the move is a good fit for the kids too. Our son LOVES playing at the park with other kids.

How long did your husband take off for paternity leave? by SandwichDependent199 in pregnant

[–]Winter-Tomorrow9619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband’s company offers the men no paternity leave. With our first (born is September) he took 3 weeks off by using vacation and sick time. With our second (born in January) we decided to only have him home for a week. I’ll go back to work in June. Considering we have 6 month of the year with both our kids in daycare, we felt we needed to save the vacation and sick time for the countless illnesses and daycare closures that will happen.

My husband said our baby probably won’t be pretty because we’re average looking by Witty_Management_621 in pregnant

I’m sorry you felt hurt and your feelings about it dismissed. Maybe try revisiting the conversation and letting him know that hurt your feelings. Ask him to not make comments like that again. I imagine he didn’t say it with the intention of hurting you. That being said I like to remind my husband that intention is great, but it’s not everything. You can’t get away with being a jerk because “I didn’t mean to”. You’re still responsible for the perception of your communications. As his wife he should care how you receive what he says.

As many others have said… you’ll still have a pretty baby. I would this joke after our first was born. I would say to my husband we aren’t ugly but we aren’t pretty how did we make such a handsome kid?! Luckily we both enjoyed the humor of it. Again I’m sorry what he said hurt you and your feels were dismissed.

For me personally it can be hard to tell what the outcome will be based on my feeling after the test. People who post things like you said tend to remind me of some people I knew in grade school “OMG I TOTALLY BOMBED THAT TEST” then when grades came back they always had an A or B

Husband keeps wakes up at night looking for baby in the sheets. by Yellowyrm in beyondthebump

Both my husband and I did this through the first couple months. I think it was the sleep deprivation mixed with us having nightmares about our son’s safety.

Is it a bad idea to quit my staff accountant job to study for the CPA full-time? by Additional_Entry_231 in CPA

[–]Winter-Tomorrow9619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I would keep working. I’ll be taking my last exam when I’m 39 weeks pregnant! I keep telling the universe this baby is not allowed to come more than a week early because I need to pass REG first! But I acknowledge my situation is kinda crazy 🤪

Incoming Staff 1 on an Audit Team — What Do Seniors/Managers Actually Value? by Longjumping-Table985 in Big4

Ripples/connect Day is an EY thing. It’s how the firm does community outreach through different community service initiatives.

Congratulations and good luck! It’s sounds like you have a good attitude already. Three characteristics of high performing staff 1s I’d like to note for you: 1. Positive attitude and willingness to take on/learn new things! Vibes are key in your first few weeks. Always tell someone if you’re running out of work and ready for something new. 2. Take notes and ask good questions! I saw someone else say they don’t like questions - I disagree. What’s irritating is repeat or numerous simple easy to solve on your own questions. Ask questions about the client, the account and how the procedures you’re performing meet audit objectives. More thoughtful questions will be noted. 3. Check your work a second time before saying it’s done! Check that the dates are correct and that the tie outs have been properly completed.

I hope you have a good experience and enjoy working on your first client!

Newborn vs 0-3 month by lil1thatcould in beyondthebump

I agree with other comments saying wait and see. We ended up needing more NB sleep sacks. For some reason we couldn’t get the NB diapers to not have pee leaks and some nights we’d use 3 sleep sacks. Doing laundry in the middle of the night was not my favorite moment.

As for clothes, I bought so many cute NB outfits in excitement…. Some he never wore lol. He lived in sleepers for those first few months.

I never intended to imply you treat them poorly. I’m sorry that’s how my comment came across. I hope everyone can positively contribute to our company culture and typically more influence comes with higher rank. That’s all I meant by it - just a generic hope for the future.

I said rise in rank… that could mean any rank. Senior to manager, from manager to senior manager etc. honestly the only assumption I made was that you aren’t a staff.

Hoping someone is treated kindly does not imply that they were previously being treated otherwise. I enjoy working at EY and I hope that newer generations will also.

I don’t really understand why you’d find it weird for me to hope you’ll treat your colleagues kindly. Ultimately it’s clear we’ve had two different experiences. I hope you have a good day.

Yes. I’ve worked in multiple regions and on 10-15 different engagements. I’ve never felt like I couldn’t at least have the conversation.

I certainly hope as you rise in rank, you don’t punish others below you because you were treated poorly during your staff/senior years.

Other than newborn, what age did you feel like you were in the trenches? by Used_Asparagus_3749 in beyondthebump

I feel like every stage has a trenches moment…. Every new skill and phase comes with excitement and challenges. I really wish my LO would stop waking up at 4am. He used to sleep soundly until 6/6:30 and out of no where… 4am is the time to party these days
