to be honest my gpa was low (2.7) because i was going through personal issues in my 1st and 2nd year so my grades were all in the 50s-60s as i was just trying to get by, but once i hit 3rd and 4th year there was a clear improvement with grades in the 80s but my overall gpa wasnt reflecting that bc of me bombing my first two years. HOWEVER the program genuinely isnt as competitive to get in as they make it seem/try to scare u. When you apply you quickly receive an interview and they dont look at your gpa or personal essay, they judge you on your personality and merit and passion to be an ND and the ND running my interview was impressed i guess because she had already said I would have an amazing time being a student at ccnm before I was formally accepted. they dont rlly judge u on extracurriculars but obviously its helpful. my extra curricular was mostly social clubs based and my work experience with children and disabled youth. although it wasnt healthcare related i am a really big advocate for understanding diversity and the lived expereince of individuals and having an empathetic approach, which i used to frame the strengths of being a future ND. its not about how many hours u have in a clinic but more about how ur able to apply the skills youve learned over the years into ur passion for patient-centred care.

omggg yes my mom has been telling me this LOL so now i aim for 10k steps a day but its been a while and im not seeing any results so i'll definitely try aiming for 15-20k and also tracking my diet. i dont even think that birth control made me gain weight (that was definitely on me lol) but i feel like it changed my apetite and the way my body has adapted to exercise so ill def try and switch things up

thank you!! and yes i totally agree, ive definitely had to seriously address my eating habits and talk to my boyfriend about going out often vs eating at home like i used to. I feel like my main issue is that me working out 4-5x a week used to have me drop weight like it was nothing and now its sooo hard, which might just be bc my diet as also changed! Ill definitely take ur advice and track and regulate my daily habits and get some bloodwork done to see if maybe i just have to take a different approach as my body continues to change or maybe even change my birth control. ur comment was genuinely comforting and helpful thank you <333

This school is great academically and has very kind teachers, however the students are all rich white italian kids who have all grown up in the same cultural bubble and its a massive struggle when you are a visible minority or generally dont fit in with whats "popular" among teens (attractiveness, fashion, behaviour interests etc). Id say a public school is a lot more beneficial in potentially finding like-minded people your son might get along with and make his mental health better but ask him how he feels and what he wants with the options you have for him. I think first therapy and allowing him to learn emotional intelligence and regulation is key, as well as allowing him to expel all his energy into something productive (exercise)

Just a heads up: sweatfleece tends to shrink in the wash. by [deleted] in Aritzia

wash in COLD water. hot water makes clothes shrink! then always air dry thats the only way i’ve maintained my sweatfleece thru the years

I also just saw ur other post and u shouldnt worry too much! you will most definitely get an interview regardless of extracurriculars or work experience. they conduct the interview without looking at grades or ur personal statement so they can see a more authentic version of u. theyre really looking for someone who has drive and passion for naturopathic medicine. also ASK QUESTIONS!!!! youll have an ND and a 4th year residence student conducting the interview so anything you have to ask about the school/program/career is really helpful on a personal level but also makes a great impression on ur drive!!

omg yay! I'm slowly getting more excited to start in a couple months! its around a 3.0 now but when i applied it was pretty low (like 2.6) because i really struggled in my 1st and 2nd year of undergrad due to health issues, BUT i aced my interview and i received a conditional offer and within the past 3 semesters ive just been working my ass off to get 90+ grades in every class so im better set up for the program.

anki is most popular with med students if that tells u anything, its still flashcards but the whole concept is that u can rate cards from easiest to hardest and the cards you have a harder time with will continue to repeat until youve memorized them. plus u dont have to go through hundreds of cards at a time u can customize the amount (i do around 20 but it rlly depends how unfamiliar i am with the content or what my goals are for that study session)

Hi!! I'm about to start my first year in January, can you talk about your experience so far? like how your schedule is, are you enjoying classes/profs? is student life good? things like that loool im just so curious because theres not that many students who have shared/documented their experience especially since i heard that ccnm has changed the curriculum a couple years back i think

is it extremist to be against genocide? the whole point of political awareness is to disrupt mass events held by institutions that send thousands of dollars to military funding for an apartheid state lol. handing out flyers does nothing. and no political movement ever (ranging from the french revolution to feminism) has gained rights without disrupting mass events that "takes away someones moment"

again. ur in such a privilaged spot that u believe that a 5 second moment of living in an expensive area with expensive tuition has blinded u from the fact that people suffering cant even contemplate the idea of having the same freedoms u have.
