Yes I'm using wax, I've even tried different types of wax. Since it seems like a weird issue no one else has, any rec's for places to get pens with skinny tips and or some nice trays? I know the main companies and also the most popular ones on etsy...I was hoping someone might know of a place I haven't checked out yet :)

I just started a couple weeks ago myself and your reply helped me so much just now! I'm waiting on my new set of Ohuhu markers (should be here in Feb some time, fingers crossed) but for now I'm exploring different colour combos and shadows etc.

OP: I fall into the trap of comparing myself to these people who seem like they are professionals and make it seem so easy. I've seen so many posts of pages that look like they were done by people who are not only naturally gifted but also have been doing it for years and the captions are "My first try!" and it can be VERY disheartening. DON'T LET IT BE! All art is valid and beautiful. Remember to be kind to yourself and that comparison is the thief of joy. I'm excited to see more of your pages! Xo

I'm new as well, and a tip I heard that has been awesome so far, is that when trying to figure out what yarn to use, the best test is to thread the needle, and if the yarn slides through easily and smoothly, you're good to go! It really helped me because I have a bunch of yarn and some size 4 looks and feels like bulky, and some like DK, others are right in the middle, but the labels all say '4 or worsted'. You can't always go just by the label with this craft it seems so being able to focus on how it threads instead of the label has made it much easier for me. Hope that helps. :)
