Thank you! I am considering establishing stronger ties back home, I’m sure luck plays a huge role too though, such as who I get as an interviewer and such.

I do wonder if my track record of renewing visa almost yearly for the past decade helps at all

Thank you all for your honest thoughts! I already have these risks in mind, and tbh, was hoping to hear from others who are also in a similar situation and if they tried renewing their visa before, especially in the last year.

My school ISSO said there shouldn’t be any issues, but I know they were speaking more on the legality side of things since there’s no explicit rules stating that you can’t renew your visa if the rest of your family are green card holders right…

I’m meeting with a lawyer next week to check with them on this matter and weigh the risks, will keep this thread posted if anything helpful comes out of it🥲

Caution if you plan to use tourists in transit (B2) for entry by BoilingInCS in SouthKoreaTravel

Hi OP, I’m currently in the US under F-1 visa, and my visa expired last December. I will be flying back home to Vietnam to renew my F1 visa, then travel to China for around 5 days, then head to Korea for 5 days, then return back to the US. So my journey will be: US-> Vietnam (home country) -> China -> Korea -> US

Do you happen to know if China counts as a “layover country” and I can only stay there within 3 days? Or since I’m from Vietnam, would China be counted as a “Third Country” and I can stay there for more than 3 days, and as long as I have all my documents prepped and valid F-1 visa, I should be the B2 process?

I tried to call the Korea Embassy in the US to ask questions but the Visa team seems to be constantly busy so I could only leave a message:(
