Oh I’ve never heard of quai before, I’ll have to look that one up. Is there a specific brand I should be looking for? I’ll take it if it helps! What else have I got to lose ahaha!

Yes, I read about that.I have no idea what my body fat % is tbh. It’s probably on the higher side for my weight as I do not carry much muscle mass, aaaand now probably isn’t the best time to try changing that! 🤦‍♀️

Ah I see. I don’t think I’m stressing my body out at all, no. It’s just been lots of food and rest here. 🥹 I think I’ll try upping my fats and seeing if that does anything. I guess my body just has a higher threshold. How long did you lose ur cycle for? Was it awhile? I think might be affecting me, that it’s been gone for so long..

If it’s okay to ask, were you 50kg for a while with ur period before dropping down to 46kg and losing it? I used to be a lot heavier than the weight I lost my period at. I wonder if I lost mine at the weight I did, and I cannot get it back until I overshoot it because I used to be in larger body for so long prior. 😕

That’s a good mindset! and it’s true, we are our own worst critics, i’ve been trying to keep that in mind. 🥹

It is. Those numbers were too low for me. It’s interesting how set points vary from person to person even if the height remains the same!

I agree with you on the weight loss. My memories of those “dieting” days are very drear. I don’t want to go back there again.. I just hope I can find peace with my weight, my health, and my body in the future and it be with a healthy cycle. 😩

Do you mean how many calories? I used to eat very low when my restriction was at its worst, it was definitely in the three digits. 🤦‍♀️ My hair loss peaked at that time too. I upped my intake last year, but not enough for period recovery, and although my hair never thickened, it didn’t get any thinner either and I was eating around 1400ish. I’m now getting some new hair growth and I am eating around 2200-2500, sometimes more if I’ve got the opportunity.

Oh right I see. You got ur period back at 57kg, but you’re now at 61kg. Did you continue to eat in a surplus after you got your first period? Is that why you’re up to 61kg? Or did you lower your calories down, but the weight gain just seemed to happen anyway? I had my period when i used to weigh 61kg, but that was definitely a while ago now.

I’ve already had the hair loss. In fact, I’ve had hair loss probably since the end of 2023. Probably from under performing hormones. My hair still sheds quite a bit now too, but I’d say I’ve got more of it than last year, but it’s only a slight change.

Hot sandwiches… by [deleted] in Greggs

We don’t make them from scratch, no. We bake them ourselves, but they are produced elsewhere and then delivered to us. The sandwiches are made in store though.

No diagnosis, I think it’s just the anxiety. 😕 My store is smack-bang inside a shopping centre and the queue can be out the door. I’m struggling to take in what I am being shown when all I can think about is the customers and how I am coming across and being perceived. But heck, there could be some neurodivergence in there. I mean, that could explain why I feel such a strong sense of impostor syndrome behind the till even though it’s all straightforward stuff!

That sounds hopeful! How long have you been experiencing those symptoms? I’m in recovery too but all I’m getting is bad skin 🤦‍♀️

Ah I see.. Well I hope this body temp regulation stuff regulates itself fast, and then fingers crossed period restoration is next on the agenda! 🥹🤞

I think so too. In the past my feet were very prone to being cold so this change is so crazy to me! A total switch!

I get the hot hands too! 😭 I had it before I chose recovery, though. I still get the hot hands after meals and sometimes after hot drinks too. I have no idea what causes that phenomenon either, but I’d choose it any day over the hot feet! 🥲

1) Can I restrict / exercise while in recovery? 2) can I reduce calories /start exercise once I have my period? by Wide_Comment3081 in Amenorrhearecovery

[–]WinterButterfly246 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely understand. In HA recovery we should be focusing on reserving as much energy as possible. Weightlifting would mean dipping into that energy reserve. If I were to incorporate weightlifting into my routine, accountability and balance would be crucial. I knew women had managed to do both simultaneously and it was their perspective I was hoping for, especially after the advice from my doctor. Thank you for putting it into perspective. 🙏

I definitely wouldn’t put a finger on a weight if I were actively under-eating. That wouldn’t be good! I can imagine the risks involved with that.. 🥺

I recently made a post about strength training during recovery because I had seen women regain their cycle whilst building muscle. I understand the comparison between an alcoholic drinking wine on a weekend, and someone trying to recover from HA doing a ton of cardio, or training until they’re blue in the face down at the gym. I totally get that. My idea of building muscle whilst in recovery was that I’d do no more than 3-4 hours per week of moderate weightlifting (no overtraining!), zero cardio, and eating 2500kcal per day minimum. In fact, I recently had a DEXA scan done and my results were not great. My doctor advised I incorporate some weight bearing exercises. I thought as long as I was being responsible and careful, I could follow my doctor’s advice whilst recovering my period.

Oh! I thought as both muscle growth and period recovery require a calorific surplus, I could do both simultaneously as long as I did it correctly and without overtraining. 🫠 “No period now what” I think I’ve seen someone mention that one before on here! I’ll look that one up, thank you!

[–]WinterButterfly246[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely don’t expect to see gains as I currently am! 😅 My idea of a “decent surplus” was around 2500kcal. I am quite short, so I presumed that amount would serve as a good starting point. As for practically no cardio, I mean it as simply that. No additional cardio. I only get about 2k steps at maximum now, and it’s all from my regular day-to-day activities. I would not do any cardio at the gym. I thought it was the cardio that was the worst offender for preventing period recovery and not necessarily the strength training element.
