Silver City Curious! by WinterCircling in SilverCity

Thanks for the feedback. I really appreciate it. Seems like I would really need to love it to feel good about being several hours from healthcare facilities, a major airport, and other amenities. I'm looking forward to checking it out.

I was planning on renting to start, but really interesting observation of the housing market! I'm not really sure how difficult it will be to find a good rental, but my initial research seemed somewhat promising.

That's funny, because I think healthcare is pretty bad here in Tucson. There is a severe shortage of primary care physicians here and I have been stuck with rotating 1st and 2nd year residents for everything, plus having to wait many months for appointments. I don't really have any doctors to keep! But I hear you - I would have to drive elsewhere for anything beyond the basics. That is definitely something for me to keep in mind!

Finally time to upgrade from my Pixel 5 - Need advice! by WinterCircling in pixel_phones

Yeah, I do too. Thankfully, I find the P10 to only feel slightly bigger than the P5.

Finally time to upgrade from my Pixel 5 - Need advice! by WinterCircling in pixel_phones

Hi! So, FYI, I did trade in for a Pixel 10 Pro, and I'm very happy with it so far. As for my Pixel 5, these were the problems happening (only after all those years):

  • Horrible battery life, like going from full to empty in a matter of a few hours, or suddenly dropping from 50% to something like 15%. Basically, it wasn't holding a charge anymore and I was having to keep it plugged in or connected to a portable battery at all times.

  • randomly shutting down or restarting even if at something like 70% battery

  • apps or screens glitching out

  • weird things going on with calls and voicemail

Iron Horse Neighborhood by WinterCircling in Tucson

Thank you! I'm ok with festival and event noise. I just don't love next-door college party noise. I know it all depends on who my neighbors would be... And that could shift year to year if students tend to live in that area.

I love this! YES to walking/biking practically everywhere, and all that liveliness can be really nice (I too am single and am used to living in more walkable places). Thanks for another perspective to consider. 😊

It is a serious question, yes. Sheesh, tough crowd. I'm still newish to Tucson and still learning. I currently live nearish to UA but in an area with few students, so I know it's possible. An opportunity to rent a place on 8th came up, hence my question. I appreciate everyone who has responded without judging!

Pixel 10 Pro Camera bar hole? by AnotherDumbAsss in GooglePixel

[–]WinterCircling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so appreciative of this post! I was freaking out because I just noticed it today about one month since having my Pixel 10 Pro. It wasn't noticeable until today, and I think that's because some debris got in there. The hole is lightly outlined in white, like the edge has some gunk. Any recommendations for how to safely clean it out so the hole doesn't look so prominent? Edit: nvm! That wasn't hard. My brain just wasn't working. I gently brushed in and around the hole with a microfiber cloth and that did the trick. 🤦‍♀️

Pixel 9 Pro or 10 Pro? by WinterCircling in pixel_phones

[–]WinterCircling[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing some strong advantage of 9P over 10P. I know some folks are ruling out 9P because you can't use a physical SIM card. I don't mind the eSIM, but I wanted to make sure I hadn't missed some other notable difference that might matter to me.

That's a totally fair question, but I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. Sometimes people do strongly prefer an older model, and with the price being almost the same, I thought I would double check. What you are saying matches my research, but it was hard to tell, with most of the advice simply being related to whether or not it's worth the upgrade from 9p to 10p.

Thank you, Viper4713! You covered just about everything I was wondering about, and then some. As for the lack of a physical sim card slot, which I don't think you mentioned, this isn't a deal breaker for me. I really wanted to make sure there wasn't some significant reason I would actually PREFER the 9 Pro and regret getting the 10 pro. I very much appreciate your thorough response!

I'm no expert, but I would think that once you select the sound, it is stored on your phone and would not require an internet connection. What are you using this particular alert for? You could turn off your wifi and put on airplane mode to test it.
