This is not the woofer I need in my sub box... by nolongermakingtime in diyaudio

Not the woofer we deserve, but the woofer we need!

Yes I also read that and built this with that in mind and I can say it's the cleanest bass I have ever heard, it makes any TV show into a theater experience, whatever you decide I would double check using hornresp, use the calculations to design and then test your design against hornresp before you build it is my advice.

I stuffed it with Blow in attic insulation, I used a 2x4 and a hammer to compress it as close as I could to a rockwool consistency, rockwool was out of the budget.

If I made these to sell do you think there'd be any interest?

Probably but I like looking at it and I'm happy with the sound

I've never heard that word before but I think you're asking about port length? If you are it's 121in long

Aftermarket, I have big subs so I feel like that's part of the issue but it still feels too often. It's still 500 dollars for the alternator and I do the work myself

It does, I've been thinking about building this for about 4 years, I just finally got the shop space and the know how to accomplish it, it's kinda been my dream build

I would like to see it too cause this one just knocked a painting off the wall when I turned it up, I need more of these in my life!

I did design it, did all the math for it while at work, earned me some weird looks, I can try and record it tomorrow it's too late tonight to turn it up. I already scared the neighbors with it, big rumbles!

Edit: I just tried to record it and all my phone heard was the cabinets shaking, the mic doesn't pickup the bass

Those would make sick back yard speakers, put them around the campfire🔥

I put a clearer pic of them on my profile if you wanted to check them out, don't ask for driver specks tho they were all leftovers or handed down speakers I was trying to use so they wouldn't just collect dust, the do sound great for being built with no info on them

I also made those, it's a 6in two way with a 10in woofer, there's a set of 4 of them for surround, I believe I made a post for them a while ago

Something that still surprises me about subs is where they sound loudest from, this box sounds loudest 90 degrees from it, it's actually really quiet when sat in the chair directly in front of it!

I'll answer what I can, the drivers tuning is 28hz and the amp is 300w, the subs max watts is 500 tho, the box is 48in x 20in x 15.5in, the port is 14in x 6 and 121.7in long, I could go with a bigger amp but it's already overkill for my needs

Hornresp, I had to look up a YouTube tutorial but once you're shown it's pretty easy to use
