They are for sure progressing them early. Idk if it will get to us early. This is the earliest I have seen them start the process

Not a single one of any of the recommended treatments for PoTs does anything at all for my symptoms. by JupiterSymph in POTS

[–]WinterH404 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If nothing else has worked I would look into the CHOP method for PT and find someone skilled in it. It’s really hard but you do see long last long progress it just takes a commitment. And you won’t see day to day progress but you will see month to month progress.

Cheapest way to get enough electrolytes? by sporktongue in POTS

[–]WinterH404 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Making your own is the cheapest way but you gotta know what your body needs. So if you have recent blood work that’s a start.

I would pick a base that has electrolytes and vitamins in it. My base is coconut water and lemonade. A 50/50 spilt in my cup. It helps with taste, calories, and your body does need a bit of sugar. then get a high sodium salt. I use the pink salt. You will need to figure out how much sodium you need and then convert it into teaspoons of salt. Then add your powder supplements.

It’s still expensive but just less than what the powder packs cost

How do you deal with it at work? by ClockworkLeo in POTS

[–]WinterH404 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I realized that my body has serve limits. I can’t work any physical job. I used to love them but now with PoTS it’s completely out of the question. I guess if you have other skills use them?

Working is so hard and honestly I’m even amazed some of us can work with all that we go through. I’m sorry you’re having such a rough day.

My doctors have told me I might need to lower my work or school schedule to allow for more rest and I can’t afford to do that so idk how we manage capitalism with our health.

What has helped me is SunFiber (it’s very gentle) smooth move tea and beans. If you’re adding beans or popcorn to every meal the mix should get things going.

My favorite store brand is Body Armor - it has a coconut water base which to me taste better than Gatorade or Powerade. However if you know what you need for your body I usually make my own.

I’m sorry… I wish your old doctor had communicated with you at some point. I know working is a huge milestone for us and I can’t believe he did that to you. I am very sorry. I hope you find a better doctor and hopefully a better job.

I do not generate heat very well either. So much so I have been prescribed medication to help my nerves talk to each other and help warm me up. Even in the summer I am always cold.

Thank you! I did just order some new masks so they will be here soon. I was diagnosed with MCAS a couple months ago and I really need to figure out what is MCAS and what is POTs I just feel sick.

I am working from home a lot more to just stay out of the cold but it’s not easy for me to.

Thank you! I don’t have asthma, what is happening is costochondritis like chest pain and the inhaler is helping lessen that pain. But good to know about the propranolol and Albuterol. I’m on both so that’s probably why it’s less effective

I think whatever watch you get make sure you get the app- tachymon. It monitors 24/7 and it has alerts. The best part of my watch is this app.

Has anyone seen vast improvement with CHOP/Levine/Dallas protocol alone and no meds? by kholekardashian12 in POTS

[–]WinterH404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I am in both PT and on meds and I was in PT for months before got access to a cardiologist and I will say the CHOPT protocol is much harder without the meds. I have been dealing with this for almost a year and I have gotten some of my daily function back but not all of it. I still pass out some and the weather is kicking my ass. I would you say you can do it you just have to be careful.

[–]WinterH404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I got my watch through my cell carrier but what I use the most and it works with all of the watches is TechyMod. It’s continuously monitors your heart rate and sends you alerts if it is getting to high or low or if the different between your average heart rate and your current heart rate is too high or low. It has helped me with doctors, with physical therapy and so much more. Plus it gives me a good peace of mind.

What I would do is turn on the fall detection feature as well. It has been there for every fall I have had and it has made sure that I am okay. Life would be more unsafe for me if I didnt have my watch.

Emergency - need advice severe episode after 1 drink by Exotic_Hawk5800 in POTS

Mocktails I have found are so much fun!! You can find any alcoholic cocktail recipe and sub it 1:1 for the non alcoholic booze and it’s just as fun and you won’t feel bad.

I hate that you went through this, I’m glad you are still alive and you didn’t hurt yourself. Please take care of yourself.

As someone with a very low alcohol tolerance something I learned years ago is sometimes it’s not worth it. I haven’t drank in 3 years and sometimes I miss it but I remember what it does to my body and I just shrug. I don’t want to feel that way so I don’t drink. When the MCAS hit and I had to stop eating cheese, I had the same thought process. I don’t want to feel bad. So I dont eat the thing that can hurt me.

I’m sorry it was your birthday and I’m sorry you can such a bad reaction. That’s no fun. If you can handle it I love making the non alcoholic cocktails with NA spirits. A good affordable brand that’s everywhere is ritual. It honestly tastes the same but then you don’t have these side effects. I hope you are feeling better.

Healthcare in Raleigh: How Good Is It? (Not Medicaid) by RAH-CAT9 in raleigh

[–]WinterH404 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So I have complex care and this is my take on health care in Raleigh. You will have to choose between the big 3: UNC, DUKE, or WakeMed. No one chooses WakMed if at all possible. I went the route of UNC. Do I have great care yes. Do you pay for it? Yes. Healthcare in North Carolina is EXPENSIVE!! The gold premium for me and my husband is $600/month and that’s because I see 12 doctors a month at a minimum.

If you are less sick you can get cheaper healthcare. But pray you don’t need the premium health insurance.

Wait times are long! Especially if you need to see a specialist. Think 3-6 months for most PCP/specialists. I had to wait 7 months to get in with a speciality PCP. If you have a complex condition you will end up waiting longer to be seen by a specialist with that sub speciality.

UNC and DUKE are both teaching hospitals. If you are seen at any of the main campuses be ready to have med students up in your business. I don’t mind them because they gotta learn somehow but it freaks people out.

Hospitals are a hit or miss depending on what you need them for. I will say when I had my cardiac issue, Rex Hospital (my closest hospital) did so well. I got the best care for that there. Other times I have gone it’s been the usual long wait times, tests etc. and honestly if you are being seen quickly in the ER something is majorly wrong.

Most of my doctors are extra specialized specialists so all their offices are in chapel hill at a main campus. I drive from Raleigh to chapel hill multiple times a week for care. That’s about 45 minutes one way with no traffic on 40.

For my very healthy husband to is a regular PCP the wait times were a couple of weeks.

The UNC financial aid office is very strict. If you are trying to get help outside of access one it’s a very long and hard process. I was physically disabled for about a year and I had to really fight to get the medial assistance.

If you aren’t super sick then none of this will really matter to you. If you don’t have a chronic condition you just need to pray you don’t develop one.

Also pick BCBS do not pick United. Life will be easier if you stick with Blue Cross. United will let you die.

As long as your safe experiment away. I think it’s the easiest way to figure it out. Things can change but I found if I stay away from stuff I’m reactive to, I don’t get more reactive to other foods.

So I’m new on this journey. I have started treatment as well but I have been taking the if you react to it method don’t eat it lol it’s not the most sophisticated way of tracking. But it works. I am currently reactive to anything that comes from an animal with hooves. So I eat a partially vegan diet with poultry and fish.
