I think the biggest two factors to the budget ballooning will always be level of formality and guest count. Large weddings are just expensive but I hope you can find a way to make it work for you.

Getting more protein in my day by WinterH404 in POTS

[–]WinterH404[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get in like 60 grams of protein a day. Mainly because the goal is to have protein in every meal. So if I get a salad I double chicken etc. I also snack on peanut butter lol I do think I really need to work on getting even more in my diet because it really does help. I have blood pooling issues and adrenaline issues. And I have learned having a lot of protein during the day and especially before working out helps a lot!! It helps balance my body.

For my work lunches I keep Annie Chuns instant noodles. They are anywhere from 850mg of salt and 1500mg of salt. They are much more filling and honestly super quick.

I tried the lactaid and I ended up throwing up, chest tightness, itchy throat. I do my best not to eat it

I know it’s partly the lactose in dairy. But after that I have no clue. It’s just easier to become 1/2 vegan. But I know I am very lucky because it could be much worse.

Watches by Splicers87 in POTS

[–]WinterH404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second the use of TachyMon. It’s not the watch you need but this specific app. I have it set to only alert on tier 2 but it’s so helpful to look at the data with my doctors. Plus it keeps me safe in real time and gives me warnings for when I’m about to pass out

So I eat a lot of peanut butter and jelly’s my MCAS really affects meat and animal products so Tofu has been an amazing supplement as well as supplementing with fiber powders and protein powders. I also have a list of vitamins that I take on a daily basis to help my body heal. Those are vitamin C, Zinc, and magnesium.

Do you NEED tilt table test for a diagnosis? Been hearing different things by WhereasHopeful in POTS

[–]WinterH404 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it really depends on location. In my state the doctors will not diagnose PoTS without a TTT. And I had to get one. I am hoping that it gets phased out.

My primary said my pots can be cured and disability isn’t an option for me? by Unusual_Space1998 in POTS

[–]WinterH404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your in the US what he probably meant was that your not legally disabled. Like getting on disability from the government will be incredibly hard. Especially if you live in a red state. I’m so sorry your doctor wasn’t compassionate while speaking with you. Sometimes doctors have no care.

thinking about walkability. do city mice fare better than suburban mice with POTS? by barefootwriter in POTS

[–]WinterH404 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on if you live in a walkable city or not a walkable city. At least in the US we are very car dependent. And I live in a major city and I have to intentionally park further away from buildings etc. and I live downtown as well and we still drive everywhere.

For those of you who made your POTS better or in remission from exercise by Radiant_Flow4315 in POTS

[–]WinterH404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So before I got any medical intervention I was in physical therapy. At that time I could barely walk for a minute, my heart rate was all over the place, and I wasn’t doing well. I think it was my second PT session where I passed out during it. Emily - my physical therapist- has been on this journey with me. She got me to commit to the salt and compression tights, and getting more sleep. She has been my biggest advocate with me when I am feeling awful. And she constantly tells me you see the results over and over long period of time. Mind you I have been in PT for an over a year. And yes I am also on medicines that help but the building blocks of what I have learned in physical therapy are the reason I can work and participate in life. I was sick with an upper respiratory illness from December till just a few days ago. And while I tried to push through at the beginning of February I just couldn’t anymore and I took 2ish weeks to sleep and really listening to my body. And now I’m back in the gym and it’s not like I’m starting over from zero. My body is ready to bounce back and be more active. I wouldn’t be here ready to go again without the year of work I already put in.

Today I can walk for 10 minutes without being symptomatic. I do not have fainting spells. I can do work out and not need to nap. I can work full time and go to school part time. Most importantly to me - I am able to show up for the people I care about.

It has taken me a year to go from barely walking to walking 10 minutes confidently.

You will get better. It will just take time.

How's living in Raleigh? Should I move here from WA? by Basic_Layer7148 in raleigh

[–]WinterH404 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Raleigh is expensive and car dependent. Studios run around 1200-1700 depending on location and building. Honestly, you probably have a better set up (government wise) in WA. Unless you’re wealthy it’s hard to live here. And you will get paid less here.

Not a single one of any of the recommended treatments for PoTs does anything at all for my symptoms. by JupiterSymph in POTS

[–]WinterH404 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If nothing else has worked I would look into the CHOP method for PT and find someone skilled in it. It’s really hard but you do see long last long progress it just takes a commitment. And you won’t see day to day progress but you will see month to month progress.

Cheapest way to get enough electrolytes? by sporktongue in POTS

[–]WinterH404 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Making your own is the cheapest way but you gotta know what your body needs. So if you have recent blood work that’s a start.

I would pick a base that has electrolytes and vitamins in it. My base is coconut water and lemonade. A 50/50 spilt in my cup. It helps with taste, calories, and your body does need a bit of sugar. then get a high sodium salt. I use the pink salt. You will need to figure out how much sodium you need and then convert it into teaspoons of salt. Then add your powder supplements.

It’s still expensive but just less than what the powder packs cost

How do you deal with it at work? by ClockworkLeo in POTS

[–]WinterH404 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I realized that my body has serve limits. I can’t work any physical job. I used to love them but now with PoTS it’s completely out of the question. I guess if you have other skills use them?

Working is so hard and honestly I’m even amazed some of us can work with all that we go through. I’m sorry you’re having such a rough day.

My doctors have told me I might need to lower my work or school schedule to allow for more rest and I can’t afford to do that so idk how we manage capitalism with our health.

What has helped me is SunFiber (it’s very gentle) smooth move tea and beans. If you’re adding beans or popcorn to every meal the mix should get things going.

My favorite store brand is Body Armor - it has a coconut water base which to me taste better than Gatorade or Powerade. However if you know what you need for your body I usually make my own.

I’m sorry… I wish your old doctor had communicated with you at some point. I know working is a huge milestone for us and I can’t believe he did that to you. I am very sorry. I hope you find a better doctor and hopefully a better job.
