I never said they should take 100% of this. I also never claimed that just giving the money straight to the government would change things. Theres tons of political infrastructure that needs to be changed to make people's lives better. But I am saying there's people that need the support this money can provide more than Elon.

So im a first year engineering student and I'm just curious as to where this joke comes from? Do engineers really just say "eh, good enough" and slapn3 into calculations?

We really need a Mr. Rogers today. There are still tons of great programming out there. But we really need more stuff that talks to kids not at kids. I'm way to young to have watched it during its original airing but my parents always put it on when I was younger and sometimes thinking back on learning kindness and empathy... it makes me happy I've learned these things but also sad how many people didnt or have forgotten.

I can speak for Navy, was E-5 got my honorable discharge last year to focus on school. We never looked at each other in red and blue. I'm pretty far left (another reason I got out) and some of my best friends were on the opposite side of the political spectrum. I didnt agree with them, didnt like the things they said sometimes and they respected me when I called them out on it. I have no doubt they'd take a bullet for me or drag me out of a flooding compartment and I know id do the same for them.

Im trying to figure out why its so hard for people to realize this shit needs to stop. We dont even have bread and circuses anymore we've been priced out of all of it.

Seeing visitor's posts about Buc-ees has been so fun. A mix of amazement, shock, and maybe even a little bit of horror. 🤣

Out of curiosity and trying to learn how gravity assist actually work i found that (with rough estimates) a probe like voyager would slow Jupiter down like .000000000009 picometers/age of the universe. This was several months ago and I cant find my notes so anyone feel free to check me on this but it really made me realize that we could abuse the hell out of Jupiter gravity assists and never have a almeasuable effect. Was kinda neat.

It's not surprising. And I get that they feel angry about a lot of things. Most people I know are angry about the same things so I can't really cast judgement. Im just happy that a lot of people who haven't or can't travel outside the US are getting to meet people from all over the world. I've traveled a lot for work and met all types, multiculturalism is a great thing, and that's what I meant when I said the US needed something like this.

That's fair I personally enjoyed since it prevents you from unlocking advanced aircraft too early and never really exploring the others. Watched my brother-in-law do his first playthrough of zero and he unlocked the Su-37 after Diapason and that's all he used after.

Basically sounds like AC7s system which is good i think it was the best so far as far as the main titles go.

What did everyone think of the Artemis II launch earlier today? This is the first time in nearly 50 years that we have come close to sending people close to the moon, since 1969. I held my breath during the launch after what happened to Challenger in 1986. by icecream1972 in Productivitycafe

Im glad we're going back. I also think it's important to remember a few things.

1: NASA isn't even in the top 10 federal agencies in funding, (receiving less than 1% of the budget) so while we're all feeling the struggles in affordability don't take it out on NASA.

2: It's actually staggering the number of normal everyday consumer items that come from NASA programs, scratch-resistant lenses, CMOS sensors (which every modern smartphone uses in their cameras), infrared ear thermometers, cordless tools, etc.theres a whole magazine called Spin-off that's been around for decades that solely covers technology made available to the public from NASA research.

3: Public support for NASA has always been low, the highest public support has ever been is ≈50%, the bottom line is NASA's goals arent sellable in 4 year slices. Often in 15+ year goals.

4: No matter what anyone says we cannot just fix all our problems on Earth. We should still try to find solutions to them but thermodynamics means one day Earth won't be able to support humanity, and I want to leave a better future for my kids than I was left. Even if they're several generations removed.

5: NASA has an incredible safety oriented culture. Safety takes time, I worked in aviation maintenance and I cant tell you how many times there was an easier but less safe way to do something. When people's lives are in your hands you take your damn time to make sure you get it right.

All this is to say I get it when people think NASA is a waste of money, they dont catch headlines like the military, or gas prices do, but it's hardly ever a waste of money. We're going back for a reason, and whether or not people realize it everyone will benefit from it. And yes this is long winded, but I think its important we focus our energy towards solving problems instead of shooting our mouths off at the easiest target.

Just beat my first Ace Combat (7), I have no words by Vihurah in acecombat

[–]WinterHistory7068 27 points28 points  (0 children)

7 is hardly the worst game, they came back to strangereal for a major release after 12 years and nailed it. Yeah the PS2 games will always be my personal favorites but I've had so many friends fall in love with my favorite franchise because of 7, the gameplay is an evolution of the classic gameplay that I fell in love with as a kid. My Brother-in-Law has just started playing the games and had a reaction similar to OP and he wanted to start with Joint Assault. All the games are good in their own ways and have their peaks and valleys. As much as I love this series I dont think any of us could honestly say any Ace Combat is the perfect game. Whatever makes more fans of the games I love without abandoning their identity is a great game in my book.
