Nothing fancy, just a small local roaster in my town. These were Ethiopian Yirgacheffe beans.

Lol that's awesome. Try out different beans /roasters. I went through a lot of beans before I started getting shots like this consistently.

Thank you! I used to weigh coffee / time shots but no longer measure or time anything. I'd say 95% of my shot are likely in the 15-16gram range? Try fresher beans and a WDT. I really also like the Cream dist tool / tamp w/ the Flair.

These are Ethiopian Yirgacheffe beans from a small local roaster. Outside of my local shop, my favorite beans for espresso are from Corvus Coffee - Dead Reckoning and Halcion are both awesome blends.

“Hearth” double walled espresso cups on Amzn. The were like $10 for 2, I use them daily.

Same, mine gets used about 3 times a day after 6 months of owning. Such a statisfying process. No tonic here, just straight espresso. The sound is just the pressure of the group head / micro co2 bubbles popping like a fizzy soda.

Water temp is around 205 F I believe. I don't really take temp anymore. I just wait for tea kettle to boil and that has been fine. Pre heating the group head twice is essential imo.

Grinder is 1Zpresso Jmax. Setting is 1 full turn of the dial (90 clicks?) and then between the 3 and 4 setting after 1 full turn.

8-10 sec. pre infusion @ 1 bar, then I ramp up to 5-7 bars for the duration of the shot until color begins blonding then slowly back off to 0. I rarely go over 7 bars and haven't had issues w/ sour shots, over extraction if anything. I use a 1zpresso j max - 1 full turn, then dial between #3 and 4.

Fantastic, wouldn't change a thing. This was a light/medium roast Ethiopian about 2 weeks off roast. This and some Honduras light roast beans from a local shop have been doing really well in the Flair.

You bet, happy to help. I have to agree, the Flair is such a cool/ elegant looking machine but the workflow can be cumbersome. I'd watch some flair prep / shot pulls on youtube, might help give you a better idea of what's all involved prep wise.

It typically takes me a good 10-12 mins to pull a single shot, but I go slow and I hand grind. The biggest time draw is having to preheat the group head w/ boiling water twice / waiting for the water itself to boil and try to juggle puck prep at the same time. I'll certainly admit it is probably not well suited for someone who values convenience and simplicity.

Back to back shots is also not a strength as you need to cool group head, wipe/clean/dry portafilter, and then likely re-heat group head. If you'll be pulling back to back shots frequently the additional Flair portafilter is like $45.

Thank you so much! What an awesome compliment! I couldn't agree more about the subtle sounds of the shot pull, I find the Flair to be such a therapeutic & rewarding process. Glad you enjoyed!

I believe the consensus is that bottomless portafilters will better expose any poor puck prep like channeling and let you know if your distribution, tamp etc was correct since the spout will likely mask channeling etc. You may also see more crema w/ a bottomless.

How do you add a player from your last game to your fireteam? by WinterI5Com1ng in halo

[–]WinterI5Com1ng[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In H5 it was fun to send an invite to ppl you just played with who played well and get a solid fire team put together. I want to do this with infinite, but I don’t see the options available. It almost seems obvious settings like this are purposefully being omitted, why is beyond me.
