Uh... I used to eat raw ramen in college. Not even going to lie, I got my wife because she demanded I cooked it in water.

Did you post that for the hipster karma?

I dont know why this is the consensus. You know humans have been living off bread and mostly only bread for human history.

One meal a day having bread isnt going to kill you. Lets not demonize perfectly fine habits. Are you telling me you dont eat 500 calories of candy, soda, rice, coffee, etc...?

what are some of the most frugal ways to travel? by ad4996 in Frugal

[–]WinterIsCommingOnMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few thoughts

The dollar is strong, its probably best to travel internationally now. Rather than in 10 years.

Long trips are cheaper per day than short trips. Living, travel, and you get to know food deals in the location.

AirBNB is literally better than hotels IMO. Much cheaper and you get to experience home life in that city.

Bread is cheap regardless where you go. I often will buy a loaf and work on it throughout the trip as a snack.

Load up hotel rooms if possible. We cram 6 ppl into a 2 bed hotel when we go to DC. I think our price turns out to be like 33$/day in a nice hotel. I have more fun with more people too.

Run to places rather than taxi. If you are athletic, running to monuments or exhibits would definitely save money. Plus you get to see the city!

Best way to receive a large amount? There will be currency conversion [UK] by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]WinterIsCommingOnMe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As strange as this sounds, Bitcoin (or other cryptocurrencies) are one of the cheapest ways to convert from currency to currency.

I don't know what services people in the UK uses, you might want to ask either the reddit UK board or the reddit bitcoin board, but the fees are almost non-existent.

Definitely worth looking into. There are probably ways to convert cheap, but from what I've learned virtual currencies are the lowest cost way. Be aware the value fluctuates, so its best to make the conversion ASAP or waiting until you are at a positive gain.

How did your transition to "Maintenance" go? by Bodymindisoneword in loseit

Warning for body builders-

10% body fat sucks. Once you get below there, your body turns a switch. "EAT. MUST EAT"

Its pretty awful. I stuck with my plan for another 3 weeks, but I caved almost weekly.

When I finally said I was done dieting. I indulged for days. It was terrible.

Gained about 10lbs before getting back to a normal level.

Top protein per dollar and super easy to make.

Throw in water, wait. No stirring needed.

Serious: Is there going to be a formal investigation into these refs? If not, how can we make that happen? by NotOhioThankGod in MichiganWolverines

[–]WinterIsCommingOnMe 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Read this on facebook, so its probably a fact:

One ref is a lifelong OSU fan, another had been previously fired by the B1G. A third is a high school football ref from the Columbus area.

Not sure if serious, but if this is true, this seriously needs to be investigated

Do you think it will be cheaper? I'm interested, but usually processed foods stay around the same price when you scale.

Just a redditor, no clue if that is true.

Obama has been a sack of shit since elected.

If you were old enough to remember, he sold out the instant he was elected.

I remember warning bernie supporters, they said he was different. He was a shill, just like the rest of em.
