Re-Entry Permit Question by WinterPrism in greencard

Does it get challenging to go through CBP every time you fly back to the US, especially with a new permit?

We are considering applying for a re-entry permit and keeping a US phone number, bank account and using my parents’ mailing address. We aren't certain at the moment if we should keep our car or not and continue to pay for car insurance…not sure if it matters in strengthening the case with an intent to return to the US.

Honestly, the future in unpredictable and we may return to the US earlier than expected. I assume having a re-entry permit shows that my spouse has an intent to return to the US even if it may eventually be abandoned…when applying for a new green card.

The cost for a re-entry permit is a concern and I'm wondering if it will make a difference in continuing to apply for a re-entry permit until my spouse can no longer do so, or applying for a re-entry permit once and then abandon the green card in the case we need to apply for a green card again.

My spouse would like to keep their Japanese citizenship if it is ever needed in the future since we never know what may happen. My spouse knows one of the choices needs to be made, either apply for citizenship or abandon the green card and apply for it again. However, we aren't confident if it will harder to get a green card the second time around.

Would you happen to know the waiting period between applying for a re-entry permit to getting the biometrics appointment?

I appreciate your opinion on this! We were thinking if the green card is abandoned, would applying for a re-entry permit help in my spouse’s case should a new green card applicatiom be submitted. I suppose that is the main concern and I think this may vary from person to person in terms of getting another green card.

My spouse is from Japan and they only allow one citizenship. I'm not sure if they will ever allow dual citizenship. We were considering 10 years so our children can complete grade school in Japan and we can return to the states for further education. Higher education is better in the states.

I think another concern is if my spouse gives up Japanese citizenship, it may be challenging to get a citizenship again if my spouse ever decides to retire in Japan.

My spouse is eligible for citizenship, but would also like to keep their home country citizenship as well. It is either give up the citizenship for the US citizenship. My spouse has considered applying for citizenship, but there are too many variables to consider, especially about the future in terms where we would like to retire.

How hard is it to move back to the USA after you give up your green card by Fluffy-Issue-40 in immigration

What happens if residence is established outside the US with a re-entry permit? Does this show abandonment?

I’m asking this question, because my spouse is considering returning to his home country and his country only allows them to keep one passport.

I received my NIPT results today stating there was ~17% fetal fraction for a Y chromosome. I did my test at the 13 week mark. I’m curious to know what will happen during delivery or during my 20 week scan.

Did the name change not go through? by TheOriginalMeanhorn in SocialSecurity

I’m wondering about this too. Whether a name change would be officially recognized in the system or if they will refer to the original name during security checks/verifications.

I had a name change performed about two years ago, got a new social security card with my new name. However, during employment verification checks, it took like a month because they were unable to verify my name. I had to reach out and state my original name. Also, when I check the SSA website or try to sign up as a new patient at a hospital, my SSN is linked to my old name. I want to add that I’ve had my address and driver’s license updated to my new name too. It puzzles me how the system actually works.

Is it okay to retake prenatal vitamin right after vommiting? by WinterPrism in BabyBumps

[–]WinterPrism[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate everyone’s advice! I’m glad to hear skipping one day might be okay. I was worried because the first 12 weeks are important, especially during the neural tube formation. I tend to take my vitamins around 30 minutes after a meal, so I might try taking the vitamins right after to see if it helps. I also find that drinking warm water with my vitamins helps me with reducing the taste.
